Side affects of coil surgery for an unruptured aneruysm

I had my surgery a week ago and am having some side effects like head aches and confusion?

Hi Vickie, My name is Jen. I had a coiling and my aneurysm ruptured. I also experience headachse and confusion and I think is really normal. I had my Aneurysm in May of this year and even now I still experience headaches. I never had them much before this happen, but now they are almost daily for me.

As for the confusion, be patient with yourself. It will get better in time. I started a journal and wrote things down. I had a lot of short term memory problems for a couple of months but it did get better with time. The journal was very helpful for me. Most of the time I didn't even remember I wrote in my journal but I kept it close so I would open it up. Inside I wrote read this and write in it. It was a life saver!

I had the PED stent in apr of 2012 and suffer headaches daily. Some days are good and some days are bad… I did have headaches before the surgery… That’s how they found my Annie… I have my six month angio in Oct to see if it’s healing… I’ll pray you feel better:)

Hi vickie

I had my procedure on the 29 June …I went back to work a week after I felt great … But this week iv had headaches everyday not really bad ones …I take pain killers and they go iv also had a bit of blur vison

Thanks jimmy

Thanks Jo… I worry so much that with the headaches something is not right… So it makes me feel better to know I’m not alone…

Hello Vickie

I also had headaches and cognitive difficulties after coiling of an unruptured aneurysm. I was warned I would get pain, but was not warned about the thinking difficulties. My double vision got slightly worse after the procedure, then better over the next few months. At 8 months it no longer bothers me except when I look up. It all improves with time. Be patient. It is early days for you.

Judith

Thank you. It really helps to hear other people’s stories of recovery… I pray every day it will get better:)

Thank you Judith I appreciate your comments they have helped me accept and be more patient.

Hi Vickie,

I thought you went back to work?

Jennifer

Hi Vickie...

I had very bad headaches for about 3 months....then they continued a few times a month....I was taking feriocet...however, I had some complications...if you feel it is something your Doctors didn't talk to you about, you should address it with them...~ keep us posted...~ Colleen
