Just found out I need a ped

Hi All: I just found out I need a ped and had a couple questions I was hoping you all could assist with please. I am getting referred to another surgeon but won’t meet with this ped specialist for a few weeks. Firstly, does anyone know a good neurosurgeon that does ped’s in the tn area? I’m in Nashville. Secondly, could you tell me how much worse the actual ped surgery is as compared to the angiogram? Since it is a somewhat similar process, I’m curious what to expect. A little history… I’m a 39 year old single mom with a wide neck caratoid ( 3/4 is in cavernous and 1/4 spilling into supraclinoid). I went in for a coiling on 6-6-13 after a voluntary 6 month wait. I had only been diagnosed previously with an mra and they thought they could coil it, but apparently not . I’m so thankful to have others to look to as examples and inspiration:) I’m a bit disgusted as after the emotional roller coaster, I had hoped to have the worst behind me by now. But, it looks like it still ahead of me.

Cindy, They tried coiling and they could not do it because my large aneurysm was a wide neck. There were no procedures for me. I waiting almost 9 years, finally the PED was brought to the US. I was one of the first 100 at Johns Hopkins. The procedure is actually a bit easier that the angio, you are under general, but more dangerous. I had my one year check and I am done. Aneurysm is gone. I am on a baby aspirin a day. All is good. Anxiety is the biggest issue for me. Let me know if I can help you. Sincerely, Denise

Thank you Denise:) I’m sorry for the the long delay in responding to you. I’m sure anxiety is going to be a huge problem for me as well. I so dread this. I’m so happy to hear you are done!! That is awesome news; I hope to be saying those same words in a year. My ped surgery is July 16th and I am very nervous about what the next month holds for me. Thanks and take care:)

Hi Dolly: I’m so happy all went well. I’ve been getting on here to check to see if you had posted anything. I’m nervous but so ready to get this over with. I hope the procedure helps with these headaches, they are exhausting me. Get lots of rest and take it nice and easy!! So happy you are done with biggest hurdle.

REST!REST!REST! just when you think you have had enough rest, REST somemore. Denise

Thanks Denise!!! I am taking off three weeks maybe more if I need it.
