Flow- Diverting Stent

First of all, thank you for adding me to this group
I am booked in for the above procedure for the week after next.
I am hoping to find out more about the procedure and length of stay in hospital ( I forgot to ask the specialist that) and what to expect afterwards.
In turn I hope I can support others going through this.
Although I am in Western Australia, I have a medical friend in Boston, who pointed me to this group .
regards,
Woofie

Hi Woofie, welcome to BAF! Weā€™re happy to have you

Iā€™m sure someone will get back to you about the flow-diverting stent procedure, but in the meantime you can also use the search icon (it looks like a magnifying glass in the top right corner) to search for ā€œflow diverting stentā€ too. Iā€™ve done it here. I hope this helps.

Good luck with your procedure, and let us know how it goes.

Meli, Seenie and TJ

Thanks Mell, Seenie and TJ
My LCA is 22mm x 16.5mm and has been there for years. It was only found incidentally last week when I had a CT scan for another problem. The only symptom it has caused is permanent blindness in left eye - which was originally diagnosed as caused by a blood clot. The next qo days waiting for the op are the longest 10 days in my life
W

Gosh, I bet that is a hard wait! Iā€™m glad they found it by accident, what a surprise. We will be thinking of you!

Thank you  I found out how long. in my case, the hospital stay will be - 2 to 4 days.
Now I just hope I donā€™t do a Moby Dick ie ā€œThar she blows!ā€ in the next nine days grin

Wolfie, how are you doing? I had 2 pipeline flex devices put behind my right eye in May 2017.

How have you recovered from two pipelines? Do you have any complications?

Hi Amy,
How did you go after your surgery? I am OK except for eyesight problem.

I havenā€™t had my ā€˜surgeryā€™ yet. Still deciding on clipping, pipeline, stent/coiling, or nothing. :frowning:

I am trying to learn how everyone is doing after clipping or pipeline. I am so afraid of complicationsā€¦ I am also a super nervous person when it comes to painā€¦ well, maybe thatā€™s why I have aneurysm?

Hi Anniebananie,
Except for limited eyesight, I am OKā€¦ just waiting for steroids to kick in !!

I donā€™t know if there is much choice in procedure. Surgeons will go for the minimally invasive option if possible , but it depends on size and position of aneurysm etc.

Hi!
I had 2 larger aneurysms and 2 smaller ones last year. 2 on the left side and 2 on the right. The doctor did the 2 on right in June and then the other 2 on left in July. Pipeline stents were used. 5 in all. I only had to stay overnight. I was on Plavix for about 6 to 7 months and 325mg of aspirin which Iā€™m still on. Had angiogram in Jan of this year and all aneurysms are closed. My one problem is I sometimes get off balanced if Iā€™m getting up and down from sitting. I donā€™t like that but no one knows why. Iā€™ve gotten advice here so will look into what they told me. This is a great site to hear what others have gone through and they do give support which I really appreciate. I hope all goes well with you.

I had my six month check up for the two pipeline flex stents I had put behind my right eye in May 2017. The 12 mm annie is gone. Hooray!

Excellent!!! Enjoy!!

How was eyesight before the pipeline?

Just found this looking for something else.
Before the PEDs I had a certain amount of sight in left eye and right eye was OK.
After the PED stents were placed I lost all sight from left eye and most from right eye. Thus was due to the swelling caused by clot which formed.
The annie has now gone. I have lost all sight in left eye but central sight in right eye has returned. Central sight in that eye is actually sharper than before.
