6 months post rupture

Hi! In Dec 2023 I had a rupture they found I had 3 aneurysms (got 2 coiled and 1 stent). I recently went back in 6 months later to get one coiled and stented. I was fine for 3 weeks and now I see specs of light from the corner of my eyes. And when I close my eyes my left eye I see a dark circle (only happened once) Trying not to freak myself out but I wanted to see if anyone else has delt with the same issue.

Of course I’ll be calling my Nuero dr.

Yes, call your neuro and let him/her know and do what they tell you. Also call an opthamologist. If you don’t already have one you use regularly, now is the time to establish care. I have a LOT of visual issues and am in the midst of a new incident being investigated. So far all good. I now have developed a good relationship with an opthamologist. He knows what’s going and usually gets me in the same day i call (I’ve wrecked a lot of his lunch breaks and now keep a small box of chocolates on hand at all times for those occassions).

Don’t panic…depending on location visual issues can occur. And some things are totally unrelated to aneurysms but important messages on changes in vision, so always follow up. We have just one set of eyes and we have to take care of ourselves. If you ever experience complete loss of vision in either eye, go straight to the ER. They will run a CT to rule out a stroke, and go further if necessary. In fact, after what we’ve been through any time you are scared, a trip to the ER is within your right. My hope is you’re like me…nothing serious, just a little scary. Hopefully you’ll get some more feedback from others. Please let us know how you make out.

I have had a similar experience with wiggly flashing lights in the outer corner of my left eye. It started when I had my stent inserted and I was given an injection of blood pressure medication. My neurosurgeon was at my bedside and he was worried that I got a stroke, but he said after the assessment that I was fine. I have had a few different explanations from the doctors and the eye doctor. One was that it had to do with the dye they used during the procedure, another explanation was about the tiny little blood vessels that feeds the ophthalmic nerve. I was told that I shouldn’t worry about it.
Please keep us posted what your doctor says.

I had a similar thing post catheter embolization and again post angiogram. In my case I had scintillating scotomas randomly a few weeks post op. They became less frequent over a few more weeks before going away.

We attributed them to irritation from the contrast material.

A scotoma tends to appear and resolve in about a 20-30 minute window, so if your silverfish / flashes are similar, they may basically be migraine aura, provoked by the contrast material. However, it is always good to rule out anything more insidious with the doctor.
