Hi my name is Yvette and I have a 2 mm brain aneaneurysm on the left side. The doc agree to do the coiling on me on feb… but I’m sooo scared to death. .I don’t want to die.I need to know step by steps after the coiling is done…
Yvette...welcome...and, prayers for your courage to do make your right decision at the right time for you...
What is the artery/segment of your aneurysm?
What statistics were given to you...to assist you in making your decision as to when to have it done?
there are so amny variations...and major changes over the last apx 5-6 years...from patients regularly being told to wait until it was bigger...(and monitored thru some equipment...)...to jump in and get it done now...no wait.... Yet, we have other members who are yet being told to wait...
Prayers for you to have detail...more questions to ask your doc...more comfort in your decision....
Pat
So u think I should wait…cause I’m so confuse because i’m 45 year’s old experience crazy headache dizzy spells too… so u think I should wait
Hi Yvette ... It is so natural to be scared...by the time you go for coiling...you will be ready...perhaps ask the Doctor to order something for you till surgery to keep your anxiety down...also, learn more about your coiling and things by going to the BAF website...click below...it will help to calm some of your fears.
Also, please know we are here for you and sending positive vibes your way ~ Colleen
Thanks Colleen!!! I was thinking maybe I should wait cause it’s really small but I don’t want to risk cause I have other health problems. . I don’t really know what to do…
I understand Yvette...it is small...I think you need to continue to research, maybe get a second opinion, etc., until you feel more comfortable with your decision...
There is a "Group" here of people that have 3mm and smaller and were told to just "watch and wait"...perhaps if you ask to join this group will shed more light to your situation...infact, my coiled aneurysm was 9mm and my one they are "watching" is 2mm and in 3 years it hasn't changed...~ wishing you a peaceful day ~ Colleen
Hi Yvette, i have a 4.6 aneu and getting it coilled monday feb.3rd. I also am sooooo scared, but i was told that i really should get it fixed. I am 35 , high blood pressure, but controlled.i think the desision really has to come from you that is if the doc did say it was you who has to take this decision. Believe me , i know what you are going through.
I have seen 4 specialistes, one neurosurgen and 3 neurointerventionists. I did lots of research, and i also followed how i felt about it all. good luck and if you would like to talk after my after my procedure,to explaine to you how things went for me, i will be glad to xxx
Yvette… My aneurysm is only 3mm also. Very small, but I have been having head pain, and eye pain for the last 2 months on a daily basis. 2 weeks ago I chose to have pipeline embolization surgery (PED). It was the safest procedure for me, my neurosurgeon said. Because my aneurysm was so small there was a great chance to puncture it with a coil procedure. They usually don’t treat small aneurysms like ours. They usually wait and monitor you. But because I was having such severe and constant pain my sergeant thought it might be a warning sigh and to take care of it.
Hi Yvette. I had my anuerysm rupture and had surgery August 29, 2013. Had it clipped with one other one on the same side of my head. The doctor said I had a small one on the other side also. i was scheduled for a second surgery Dec fourth. I found this web site and began reading anything i could find about our problem. In november I saw the surgeoun for my preparation CT scan. I asked many question and was brutally honest with him. Im not having pain like you are, but the doctor and i both agreed that the risk of surgery [ mine couldnt be coiled because of location, would have to be clipped] at this time was greater than just watching. I may yet have to have surgery. Find out all there is about procedures, results, risks, etc. The brain anuerysm foundation is a wealth of information for people like us.
Our prayers go with you Roy
Get a second opinion first. Ease your mind. Did you have your angiogram already? My original MRA showed a 2 mm and a 8-10 mm. The angiogram didn't show anything of concern where the 2 mm was, they think it may have been a shadow or an artifact. They pipelined the other. Do some research, find another surgeon for a 2nd opinion -- remember, knowledge is power.
NO...I do NOT think you should wait...I meant to ask your doc a number of questions...
for you to better understand "how come/why/when" and "what are the options" ...in the treatment procedures...if they were not all explained to you...
The results of treatment can have major impacts on the "step-by-step" recovery issues... and, also which artery and its segment are involved...anatomically which cranial nerves can/may be affected...the same for the main access arteries to reach the aneurysm...our own personal general health...at the start of all of it...to the skills of the doctors involved...
Prayers you seek the info you want/need...that is right for you to make your decision...
We offer our experiences...our suggestions...our opinions...and NOT your decision...
Pat
Yvette...re: "other health problems"...that can be well under control...in a healing process...or the kinds of issues that stay w/us advance over time..
MedlinePlus data on Coronary Angios does note potential issues w/diabetes and renal insufficiency... and the contrast dye... the page on Cerebral Angios does not make this reference to contrast materials...yet, our brain is only inches above our heart...served by our same circulatory system...
So hope your neuro-doc talked to you about any interactions of your treatment to your other health issues...the most common term used on contrast dye is...."reactions"...and, not the differences and depths of all the reactions...
Again, we offer our experiences, our opinions, our suggestions...not another's decision...
Please keep us updated...it appears you are getting a grand response here...I think there is a Group site on those who are in the waiting / monitoring for treatment...
Hi Yvette. You’re doing the right thing by talking about it. Talk to others who have had this surgery with your doctor. Go online to find web sites that will rate your doctor. I did all these things and developed a close relationship with my doctor. I feel I can trust him now. And, I prayed and sought guidance from God and my wife. Ultimately the decision was mine. I feel comfortable about decision. This brought peace to me. I know you will feel that peace also. God bless. Praying for you
