Amy, I had the same question for my doc at two year mark. She said I had to recondition my body. I was so used to sleeping when my brain said no more, it became spoiled lol. We go to bed around 9 but get up at 5. So I stopped my naps, exercised and got on a routine. It’s amazing the difference each effort makes. Yes I get tired so I push through it and it helps to be goal oriented. Completing a workable goal gives me a little punch of energy and I’m ready to tackle another. I make my goals obtainable by hour, day, week
I don’t watch much tv because it gets on my nerves, the quick changes in both vision and sound. But around 3:00 I’m still ready for a nap and will try to find a way to get outside and exercise the dogs
It also helped to decrease caffeine. I used to know why but not now. Good luck and let us know what you’ve tried
I used to read a lot! I still try but after 30 minutes I’m ready for a nap. So the dogs and I take a 15 minute walk. We currently do the hunt for pecans. It’s quite funny as a blue jay is knocking them out and waits for the dogs to run after it. They will sit for a long time staring up in the tree waiting for a pecan. The squirrels are not happy with the blue jay. We’ve also got to watch a fawn grow and play in the field next door The silver fox is beautiful to watch and he’s getting his winter coat. The coyote, not so much, we go in when it’s around. The leaves were late in changing and not enough rain to make them all outstanding. The smoke from the fires are limiting our outside time but we still manage some time. May just fire up the old Wii
HI Amy,
I think that fatigue is common for ruptured aneurysm/SAH survivors. I will suffer from chronic vertigo/double vision/balance problems for the rest of my life. It is only controlled via exercise and beta blocker medicine. But, when I still get those vertigo episodes, It just leaves me mentally tired. Other survivors who I talked to get mentally tired as their mind brain was affected so they cannot think. So, I started physical training (weight lifting, cycling, and pilates) to build my physical stamina. It also helps regulates body chemistry where I have normal sleep patterns. But, unfortunately, when I get those vertigo attacks, I need to rest.
