I wish I saw this 5 years ago, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7VEuMNgQSU#t=170
Thanks Ron!
yw! I had to learn these techniques the hard way, I wish all tbi and incidental b/a survivors and all their family and friends, co-workers could see this PRIOR to operations and homecomings from the rehabs(in my case)
with my ptsd flashbacks it was a little difficult to watch but I got thru it mostly in awe of their expertise!
Your right it would be nice if we did all have a little kit put together from the powers that be to help us, family and friends out. I’m so grateful I found this site and the people in it like you!
Thank you!! I feel validated…I never knew what I have been experiencing (since i had a burst aneurysm last year on Christmas eve ) had a NAME!!!
My aneurysm was clipped 6 yrs ago but the things in the video still happen. Crowds, noise, lights, memory issues, concentration problems, even anger. Is it even possible this could still be happening due to the surgery?
Thanks for sharing RonK! You are the best!
DITTO! Excellent. So spot on.
Thanks for sharing that. I had my aneurysm 16 years ago and I could identify with some of the items that I have a problem with - crowds, a lot of people in a get-together, noise, lights, etc. Seeing the video doesn't eliminate my problems but it's great to realize that I'm not "weird" or too sensitive!
I have had two mirrored aneursyms behind my eyes filled 4 years ago and I wish this would have come out earlier. I have felt as if I have had several of the exact issues, and when I tried to tell eithet a friend or family member, I get told that it’s normal as you get older…I am 58 and just got lost in Walmart two days ago. I got completely overwhelmed.
thank you so much for posting this. it helps me understand why I'm feeling these flooding symptoms and helps the people around me understand. I can totally relate and experienced many of these right after the surgery and still some of them now, a little over a year later.
Thank you for sharing. I too have experienced this flooding. I wish healthcare providers shared this with patients and families, knowledge helps preparation and adaptation to what we are going through. Makes me wonder about my vertigo…
Thanks for sharing! I have been experiencing these things for the past 8 years and just accepted! Now will have family watch video!
thanks for all the responses! I am floored and thought I was the only one who was blown away by this- the authors should be thanked not me! I believe it said it was from brittish Columbia. I also didn't know they had a name for it, I just called it "messed" up-lol it does get better, 1 yr post sah was a disaster when I visited work and I felt like screaming and running away! BUT 5 yrs post was almost like the old me! Partly because it was more laid back and 4 people were not talking to me at once- perhaps they sensed my confusion of trip one or maybe they saw this you tube>>-lol it ALL gets better us them everyone! tc happy thanksgiving!!
Glad to know there is a word for what happens when I am in crowds, or around too much stimulation. It has been 12 yrs. this month since my annie was clipped. Seems like the flooding is worse when I am tired. Which I have really learned over the years to just stop what I am doing when my brain has had enough. Some days(not too often) I do like to go get in a dark quiet place and just chill. I know by brain appreciates it. I think we are so much aware of how the brain really needs its rest. So glad to have this support system, the family doesn't seem to understand, I think because on the outside I look fine, seem to live a pretty normal life , but sometimes the inside is fighting with staying on task and justs wants to scream. Hope everyone has a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! Robyn Bateman
Absolutely spot on, Ron! I am sharing with some of my family and closest friends. Thank you so much.

I couldn’t get on it what’s flooding
Your not alone. This is what I sent another member -
I went on the nbia.ca website where Ron’s video originated from. According to nbia “Flooding - Brain gets overwhelmed and shuts down”. There is a Cognitive Behavorial flooding therapeutic technique where one is immersed in their phobia. For this though, I would use the nbia explanation. They have a good article on brain injury effects here : http://nbia.ca/effects-brain-injury/
