Your not alone. This is what I sent another member -

I went on the nbia.ca website where Ron’s video originated from. According to nbia “Flooding - Brain gets overwhelmed and shuts down”. There is a Cognitive Behavorial flooding therapeutic technique where one is immersed in their phobia. For this though, I would use the nbia explanation. They have a good article on brain injury effects here : http://nbia.ca/effects-brain-injury/

Thank you for posting this link. Once again I’m not nuts! I have had this problem since the rupture a little over 2 years ago. This really helped to clarify why I feel as I do sometimes. Actually it came up in a conversation in the car tonight too. Wished I’d have seen this a long time ago. Thanks again for posting.

I am experiencing almost all of these symptoms. I didn't know it had a name. I do not/cannot leave my house without earplugs and sunglasses. Good to know I'm not crazy. I LOVE this site.

Reading some of the post this morning, seems amazing to me that we all have alot of the same symptoms, wheather ours ruptured, or not, what about coiled, verses clipping or other procedures? Mine was not ruptured and was clipped. I guess when you brain has been tampered with, it really does not matter. robyn

I’m wondering if Flooding in Canada is the same as Sensory Overload Disorder here in the US. Anyone know? Any other countries call it something else?

I have been experiencing this since my aneurysm ruptured 3 years ago. The doctors couldn’t explain what was going on with my memory or sometimes when I just freeze up and can’t seem to process anything. This video hit the nail on the head. The first time I have heard a good explanation.

OMG …thank you so very much for sharing !! I have felt like this on more than occasion and believe something was wrong with me. The anxiety and incomplete conversation, speech slurs, etc. it help me to understand so much more of what I’m going through and there is a comfort in knowing. Please know I am so appreciative and forward this information to the Leader of the Support group here in Philadelphia . Thank you so very much!

Thank you for sharing! I have been blaming the issues I have been having with memory, emotionalism, and feeling overwhelmed easily with menopause. My aneurysm ruptured Nov 2013. Now I am wondering if it is "flooding" or a combination. Any women out there have these two issues going on?

Lori- those can also be signs of menopause. My friends and I are all old enough to have that behind us! Check with your doctor OB/GYN. Some of my friends went to a compounding pharmacist with a prescription and were given a cream specifically made for them. There was a lengthy questionnaire to fill out by the patient and their partner. Partners couldn’t show the patient their responses. You might check with your Neuro to see if that’s okay to do first. The cream helps the hormones balance out.

I have both issues going on, Lori; I'm 53 and technically (hormonally) post-menopausal. I was flabbergasted to learn in the flooding video that something akin to hot flashes can be a symptom. I can't distinguish one kind from the other, because I was 48 and pre-menopausal when I had my rupture; but I don't get them nearly as "vehemently" now as I used to. Regardless of the cause for your symptoms, you might find it helpful to recognize that you have plenty of good reasons for them! Don't beat yourself up too much.

Anna, I can tell you have walked where I am walking when you told me not to beat myself up too much.

I had just started having significant changes when I had my "annie". This video really has me thinking.
