So I had my web device fitted at 4pm yesterday. In high dependency unit at 8 pm after 2 hours in recovery room lying flat. Saw the surgeon this morning at 8:30 am and am being allowed home today!!! Will have a review of an MRI scan in 6 months followed by a clinic review . The principle of the web device is…it fits like a wire mesh basket inside the Aneurysm then clots form around and inside and prevent blood flowing in and eventually it shrinks and dies, the basket will always remain same size and shape. I was told in the literature they sent me I can resume normal life without any restrictions after the procedure. My have mild headaches for a week but to take paracetamol for that and they will ease. So my resuming of normal life is thus. I am putting my house on the market and using half as equity to continue my avid travels and buy an appartment with the residue…happy days
Happy days indeed, ann4! Is “web device” the official name for the gizmo that they put into your aneurysm? When I read the subject line, I thought they’d installed some piece of computer equipment inside your head. Hey … they can do all kinds of weird and wonderful things nowadays. I’m waiting for the chance to have a few Gigabytes of memory added to mine!
How wonderful for you, being told that you can resume a normal life. It sounds like you’re going to take full advantage of that assurance! Good for you.

The web device is called a web endobridge device and the principle being it’s used for wide necked aneurysms which can’t be filled with coils. It fills the whole space and then blood clots form in and around to stop any blood flowing in and it seals the opening. I will have a review in five months then another after two years and if all being well no further measures to be taken. I was allowed home the next day which is great. I have only found one YouTube video showing the procedure so if you Google YouTube web endobridge device you should find it. All very fascinating and minimally invasive and I was told it was the safest option for me, may not suit everyone, the experts will decide but I am home resting in my bed today Thursday after having late afternoon surgery on Tuesday and then an overnight stay at my sister’s house last night. Hope this explaination helps
The Woven EndoBridge (thus the web) is another one of the marvelous tools that take people out of the ER and in into their Radiologists hands. Bravo for You!!!

Oh my, Ann4, how exciting is that! What would have been an open craniotomy (or something similar) for some people has become minimally invasive. How absolutely wonderful.
Thank you for the explanation, and the lead on where to get information. The previous ModSupport post was from my colleague TJ, who has much more medical knowledge than I could ever hope to acquire. Thanks, TJ, for adding to the discussion!
