How would I know?

My rupture was 5-5-2011 At that time they gave me 9 coils & was in hospital for a little over 2 weeks . They didn't get all the coils in and didn't want to put more stress on my brain . I went back Sep.23,2011 for more but because my annie is at a bend in the artery it was difficult so he put a stent in . I was then on plavix and 325 aspirin for awhile now i just take baby aspirin everyday ,which anybody with any stent in their body has to take . I went back yet again 5-11-2012 to try again But this time my vessels started to spasm which indicated possible stroke so he stopped . I'll be getting another stent sometime withing the next year since he just can't get more coils in there . As of now My annie is about 90% filled with coils . I just had an xray of my neck the other day and they found some issues which might be causing the headaches i'm having all the time . I'm pretty sure i injured my neck day of rupture . I collapsed on the ER floor then once they got me on a bed I apparently went crazy and kept pulling out IV and breathing tubes so they restrained me . My husband tells me that didn't go so well . I looked like a women possessed & he feels I really messed up my neck with all the thrashing around . I have issues with being "trapped" so i'm sure being tied to a bed by my wrist and ankles put me in a full blown panic attack . BUT now that I have that x-ray and know something is wrong with my neck i can begin to heal it with proper care . Going to see my neurosurgeon and neurologist for it next week .

Hi, Claire. I had a rupture and coiling in March of 2011 when I was 48. It's been over 2 years and I still sometimes get headaches and strangeness and anxiety, but it's SO much better now. However, when I was 18 or 20 weeks post rupture, like you, I was still on constant painkillers. What happened to me was it turned out that I was getting rebound headaches ( I think they're called) which were actually caused by the Tylenol after taking it for 4 months straight. My son (who is in med school) suggested that I stop taking the Tylenol for a day and see what would happen. After a day, the headaches actually went away! It was such a relief! You may want to stop the painkillers for a day or two and see. I don't want to cause you pain (!) but this may be the case for you too. Whatever you do, just know that you are okay and this is not unusual and that you ARE getting better and your brain is constantly working to heal itself. You will go through so many emotions on this journey to healing; there will be great days and terrible days. It's been more than two years, and it's still hard sometimes, but I'm grateful for life every day; that's the gift!

Claire any doubts in the headaches...seek medical attention...~wishing you a good day ~ Colleen
