Every headache I get with my unruptured aneurism freaks me out. At what point do I really get scared.
Hi Fiona...the bad headache and I only had a leak...not even a rupture...it is something you just know...your head pounds and tears come down your face (automatic) and you feel like you will vomit and/or you do vomit...your BP skyrockets...and I remember I wanted to put my head through the wall to stop the pain...that is what the worse headache was for me...I get migraines now from the coiling...and they are nothing...like that one I described...I didn't even know about Brain aneurysm's and I knew something was so...so wrong...~

h Fiona! hope your feeling better! A lady on here said that ice packs on her neck while lyng down did wonders-worth a try, maybe relaxing music and some medtation. take care~
Hey Fiona,
my 1st aneurysm headache started out like a left sided, blood pressure rising type of headache that actually made me sick to my stomach..than as the afterroon turned into evening the mildly painful thud turned into what felt like someone was swinging a ballpeen hammer into the left side of my head , I was light sensitive, felt like vomting for sure, it was the Grand Daddy of all headaches and nothing would make it stop. It was beyond a headache to be sure. the 2nd aneurysm I had actually never presented itself like a typical headache, but very suddenly and without warning, a pain that was indescribable struck me dead center in my skull--lasting no more then a minutes or so, and the next day I was suddenly hit again with that exact pain (that was the last thing I remembered actually as I'd fallen to the floor and was in a coma for the next 6 weeks) then once again I very suddenly and without warning experienced the same exact deep inner skull pain 3 years later when my coils compacted on me, I fell to the ground yet remained alert at that time. ......both were very different from one another, but both were immediately known by me to be so out of the range of 'normal headache's. unquestionably so. I have the same fear.
Here is what I can tell you from my experience with a ruptured aneurysm. Assuming someone doesn’t lose conciseness, I don’t think you can mistake this type of headache from any other. My headache came on instantly; it was incredibly painful, like getting hit with a lead pipe. I became dizzy, nauseous and felt like I was going to pass out. I felt completely disconnected from my body. I have never in my life thought to myself “Boy I need to get to a hospital right away”, but I did that day.
I am sure there are different t degrees of this experience. But from what I have read here and on other sites this is the most common symptoms of a rupture. My aneurysm is not stable and I have developed a residual aneurysm that three different doctors say is too dangerous to treat. Every time I get a sharp pain or dull ache in my head I still go into high alert. But I don’t panic; because I am about 99% sure I would know the difference.
We all get head pain from time to time and knowing you have an aneurysm increases the Anxiety. All I can suggest to you is if you feel something unlike anything you have felt before; don’t hesitate to get it checked out. Best of luck to you!
Hi Fiona,
I freak out with any headache that I consider to be a lvl 8 or worse pain. WIth my rupture I did not feel the worse headache as everyone describes. My experience felt like everything in my head was draining out of me if that makes any sense. If tylenol doesn't get rid of it and I feel any of the other signs my husband takes me to the er. We have been there 2 or 3 times since I have been released from the hospital. My husband doesn't want to take any chances. I don't know if I am any help if not sorry....
