Hi I had a ruptured brain aneurysm in Feb.2018. I had coiling done, and had no complications. I have another one in there that still needs to be operated on…waiting. At first when I was released I had severe headaches all day. I was medicated every 4 hours. Eventually after a couple months it got better. Then this summer heat hit! Whoa! The humidity drove me either in the water or in the house. I feel pressure headaches, which are different from the previous headaches. Now that summer is over I started feeling better, but recently I have neck pain any time I try ANYTHING physical, even a walk. I get light massage, but it doesn’t help much. You see I’m not permitted much of anything: no caffeine, vigorous exercise, alcohol (more than 2), and no straining or lifting. My CAT scans are “normal”, but I feel like I am living in limbo. The anxiety I feel ALL the time, fearing the other one might blow is awful. It affects all aspects of my life. Does anyone have any advice for pain relief?
I am having neck pains as well, and have never had them before my surgery. This doesn’t get to the root of “why” we are having them, but I am now using a THC Cream for pain, and it gives me relief for about 6 hours with no side effects that I’m aware of. I’m also getting massages. I think part of it is sitting at the computer and arms being too high.
Neck pain seems to be a common thing with ruptured Annies. I will try the cream. It’s nice to know I am not alone. I am grateful for this site I found. No one seems to understand that I look perfectly fine, but in pain all the time. It’s freaking my husband out, so I don’t talk about the pain as much.
I too had a coil & stent for I ruptured Annie
And my headaches have reached a new high along with some neck pain.
I made the mistake of turning on a scented candle that just about killed me. I had to be in the dark for the rest of the day after medicating myself. I just worry if this is the way it’s going to be from now on? My anxiety is horrible too.
I feel so alone in my pain and anxiety that I could die at any moment.
I use the THC cream also for my pains. I also have acupuncture once a week and a chiropractor for Ultrasound. Cold packs/hot packs helped also. My doctor said I could use my prescription Flector patches also. These are a type of NSAID but he said since it was locally applied and not systemic like the oral types ie: Advil, ibuprofen, then I could use one. Others have suggested seeing a neurologist for pain relief and not just your neurosurgeon. The neurologist has a different view of things. I also recommend getting a mindfulness app if you have a smart phone. I use one called Calm. There are many others and they have free trials. Calm is approx. $5 a month. I use it for the sleep stories at night, it really helped my anxiety at night when I would toss and turn worrying about my coiled annie and the one that was waiting to be coiled. Hope some of these ideas might help! You are not alone.
Hi Anon,
I wanted to say that I have just been diagnosed with a 7mm pariclinoid superseller aneurysm. I have not met with my surgeon yet. I am having dizziness, loss of balance and foggy headedness. Do you feel better after having your procedure? I am not sure I want to have anything done at present. Its a huge decision and I worry the quality of my life may be impacted post-operatively.
Hi ! I don’t have your type of aneurysm , but different one even smaller size . But had this dizziness , balance problems few times a year . Foggy headaches , migraines , all kind of headaches still a problem . The neurosurgeon will give you probably only concrete answers about aneurysm : to fix or watch , if to fix , which way . With headaches , in my case , my neurologist seeing me every 6 month , at first medication worked , now it doesn’t . Regarding balance dizziness just in case check your B 12 and D with blood test . I had mine very low , it can cause and headaches and dizziness and problems with balance .
