Coiling

I had ruptured aneurysm coiled in Sept14. I have had follow up scan recently and all is ok according to Neuro doc. She did say that I would have to be monitored regularly as coils can contract and blood could escape again This has worried me and I am having concerns about the effectiveness of coiling in the long term.

I had a ruptured on sept. 18 and everything looks ok until now but I’m also concern for my future.

I ruptured and was coiled and still am being followed. In the course of things, dr. Wolfe found another. So I went into the second procedure not knowing what she’d do. I did know she would see if coiling was reasonable or if she would have to crack my skull open. She coiled the second. The risks are far less with coiling from what I’ve read. The differences between ruptured and not are great from my experience. Take a look at what the BAF says about second aneurysms developing as well as compaction of coils. In the meantime live your life for self and others, not for your aneurysms. And remember to breathe!

There are many people on this board who have had tremendous success with coiling with no repercussions. Try not to get anxious about it. It's fantastic they were able to operate on you.
