6 month follow up angiogram questions?

Hi, I’m new to this group. I had my 6 month angiogram yesterday and was given good news. No coil compaction and aneurysm was fully occluded. My next angio is in 1 year. However, I was a little surprised that my surgeon recommended that I stop the my 325 mg aspirin despite having stents. I told her I wasn’t comfortable with that, so she said I could continue it for now. Have other people had their aspirin discontinued after a good angiogram, despite having a stent?

Im now at home recovering from procedure that went smoothly. My groin hurts a little from the puncture wound. I live in a 2 story home and stayed on the first floor last night, trying to avoid the stairs for now. I have a little bit of a headache, which the doctor said could happen.I wanted to get some feedback of what else to expect or watch out for. I’m also curious if sometime between angiograms people are scheduled for MRA’s?

In advance, I’d like to thank you for your feedback and support?

I continue to take aspirin 81mg 3 years after my coiling, however I do have a small amount of compaction. No stents. I had mRA’s and a follow up angiography 6 months after my initial SAH, 1 year and again at 18 months because the neurosurgeon was closely watching the degree of compaction. At 2 years, I only had an mRA, another one again at 3 years and I will have another at 4 years. Some may think this is overkill but it give my famity a sense of reassurance that all is well. My hemorrhage was really bad and I nearly died so doing an MRA annually is not a big deal to me. Congrats on your 6 month follow up!

Sky good news! I’m having mine done in September and hope to stay on aspirin but get off blood thinners, looking like I’ve been the loser in boxing match healing to all

Thanks for the info Mary J. The Doctor did not mention another MRA, just that she will see me for another angiogram next year. I imagine that’s good, I just know that my previous surgeon would have recommended an angiogram between now and next August. I was just curious what other people have had because she didn’t even mention it. I no longer see him because he moved his practice to another state. However, I do really like my new doctor. Thanks Anafa for the referral.

Mary J, did you have both an MRA and angiography done 6, 12, and 18 month ?
