Has anyone had a 6 month follow up, after coiling, that did not involve a cerebral angiogram?

Hi Iris- I had a cerebral angiogram at 3 months post coils and stent. All was good so now once a year a MRA. Hope that helps:)

I never had the angiogram as apparantly the coiled anurism showed up well enough on the scan hope this helps x
Hi Iris, I had a 12 month follow up but it did involve a cerebral angiogram. Luckily at that they noticed my second aneurysm doubled in size. Soon there after I had a coiling and stent procedure. I’m blessed! 
I had a three month follow up CT for my coiling, but had already been through 3 angios for my other aneurysms.
I had a coil 5 years ago and during a month later follow up, since he knew I was broke did nothing but talk to me. Here I sit 5 years later with no side effects still. And 3 months ago I had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery.
I'm going for my 6 month follow up and I have only an MRI scheduled. They will check if the coil is holding I guess, and if the 3 untreated ones have not changed in size and shape.

Hi, Iris...I had a coiling done in August 2013, a follow-up with MRI/MRA in January 2014, and I am going back this week for a 12-month follow-up with MRI/MRA. I have not had any angiograms since before my coiling. I do have two more smaller aneurysms that are being watched.
Hi, Iris. I had an angio 3 months after the coiling/stent. Then at a year after the surgery, had an MRA and again the 2nd year. This month I will again go for an MRA and then not sure what happens next. Good luck! Sherri
I had a three month MRI and angiogram after my coiling and they discovered another aneurism. I had to have a stent put in, I now go every six months for MRI,s and angiograms. At least I am being watched and tested.
Thank you so much for your replies. My husband is scheduled fro a cerebral angio. I am trying to ask around, and perhaps get a second opinion from doctors regarding whether or not an MRA will provide adequate imaging. He had a coiling, but the aneurysm ruptured during the procedure, and then he went through so much. I am all about doing what is best for him, but would love it if he could have less invasive follow up.

I had ruptured aneurysm on 4/2013 & had an angiogram @ 3months, 6months & 1 yr. I didn't get any MRAs, don't know how they decide what is best. Good luck!
Hi, I had an MRA at 6 months doc said it looked great so he didn’t think an angiogram was necessary at this point
I had my coiling in February 2013 at Mayo, and also have another small 1-2mm aneurysm that they are watching. I have not had another angiogram since my surgery. My 6 month check was an MRA and things looked he same. They say that I will just get it scanned (MRA, I believe) every 2 years from now on, from the date of the surgery.
A couple of months ago, I was suddenly having lots of smaller headaches and lightheaded ness, and so they sent me to the ER to get a CT scan, and then a spinal tap. Turned out everything was okay, the aneurysms were not leaking and had not changed. I probably just pushed myself physically too much from some college road trips I did with my son and my brain is still in recovery.
My friend, who also had coiling last year at Barrows Neuro, however, did have an angiogram done at her 6 month checkup. So I guess every doctor has a different protocol for how they follow up.
I've had 3 follow ups since 2010 all angiograms. I'm good now until 2016
I had an angio 6 mos after coiling and stenting....I see my surgeon this month ( a year after my surgery) and I'm not sure what he has planned for the 1 yr check up
I had an angiogram at 6 months post coiling and had a MRI at a year anniversary.
I’ve had follow ups every 6 mos since my aneurysm ruptured & was coiled- February 2012. Had MRA the first time, MRIs after that until the ruptured one showed that the coils had compacted. Then got the angio. Had more coils added last August & and had follow ups since. Last one last month- no changes so I done have to go back for a yr. keeping you both in my prayers.
