For me I woke up at 4:30 am with a sharp pain in the back left part of my head. I was able to go back to sleep and woke up 2 hrs later with the same pain. Got up at 9:30 am talked with my husband, who is a paramedic, who siad to call the dr. I did they got me in, did a MRI and found it that way. I felt very lucky to go to this dr because we have the MRI in the same building as the dr’s office. She didn’t hesitate to send me right down to the lab and then to x-ray. Turns out according to the neurologist the pain in my head had nothing to do with the aneurysm. Clipped it 2 months later. no rupture.

Oh my gosh, Tina! That is ridiculous that you have to go through that. Can they not send your CT results to a neuro-surgeon who could then direct you on how best to proceed? Sometimes they clip, other times they coil and, sometimes they monitor.
Laurel thank you for responding. There hasn’t been any mention of being referred to a neurosurgeon whatsoever. I can’t believe this. From what I’m told, anything less that 5mm they tend to monitor and wait, anything over that they tend to take action given the person’s age, general health etc. Well, I’m 45 yrs old and to have to live with this every day isn’t an option for me I don’t think. All I want right now is a Dr that is taking care of me so that I feel safe and in capable hands. I don’t have that feeling right now. I would have thought that when the CT came back with these results, I would have been referred right away?? What does a family Dr know, is this not out of his scope?? Oh and I forgot to mention that it actually wasn’t him that I saw. It was his practical nurse! She asked me how I had been feeling, told her what’s been going on and then she said ok, make an appt to come back in two weeks time. I said, Ummm, what about the CT results??? Oh yes she said, then pulled them up on the computer!! I can’t tell you how vulnerable I feel right now.
Thank goodness I found this site for some support.
