My aneurysms were actually coiled not clipped. I had a total of 4 two ruptured. They were all found at once. My neurosurgeon is concerned with one of the wires from one of the coiles and I am scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow. I am staying optimistic.
Michelle,
I am at week 6 post clipping. I was told that i would be put on Keppra after surgery, but never was. I was on steroids for (tapered dose) several days. I had really strong cravings, I still got tired (but more so after I got off the steroids. I had no seizures. I still got angry at myself because I had eye problems and ran out of energy, and struggled to do what I could do easily prior to surgery. i had no headaches. Still tired.
Sorry to hear that Carol. Good thing you didn’t need the keppra! 6 weeks post clipping I wuss still tired too! Now at almost 6 months I can tell you it does get much better! I am back to normal with no issues other then still a little numb behind the incision and some divets in my forhead are more pronounced! Still some headaches here and there but nothing like before the clipping! You are on your road to recovery and I wish you the best! It will keep getting better!
Thanks Michele. Glad to hear that you are doing better. I'm just noticing that even without Keppra, there can be problems to work with after clipping. I understand that Keppra can have some pretty nasty effects. I was glad that they decided not to use it. If they had, I might have had more problems. Actually, the home health physical therapist thought i was doing quite well. I felt like I was struggling I think mostly because of my eye. Even now, i am extremely by latr afternoon, and have been unable to avoid taking a nap. I can still sleep at night. Members of my family are not happy about the napping. But, I have been cleared, as of a few days ago, to go back to my normal activities. Apparently they feel that this will help.
I'm now 20 months post clipping and removal of AVM. Before surgery, for a number of years, I had mini-seizures. So I was put on Keppra. Seizures persisted, dosage was changed numerous times, other drugs added to the mix, it was awful! I was tired a lot of the time but persisted with my active life. Last week I saw Dr. Benbadis at Tampa General Hospital's Epilepsy Clinic. I was hospitalized for 4 days for video monitoring. At the end of that, it's been determined that I have Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures. I'm off the Keppra...and, wow! I feel so much better I can't believe it. Still having some seizures, hoping they will stop. It's great having energy again. I'll be going for some psychiatric therapy starting soon. Hope we can get to the bottom of this. If interested in this diagnosis, go to epilepsy.com (or .org), don't remember which. There is an article titled "The Truth about Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures).
Good luck!! Chilly
Hi I hope you feel better.
I had my anneyrsum ruptured and got operated in November. I was taken to the hospital in a very bad condition. They clipped the ruptured anneyrsum and i got discharged in one months time. In the first 2 months i was taking a medicine to prevent any seizures. The only side effects for that syrup was i couldn't sleep at night & used to wake up with a massive urge to drink water.
I didn't suffer much headaches or any other things. My biggest problem was low tolerance irritation & depression.
This automatically improves with time. I still sometimes get the feeling of depression but it has improved greatly over the last 2 months greatly.

Hi Michele me too! i blamed everything on the kepra but it was just the aftermath of the sah. i hope he can wean you off soon but im recalling someone who had to take it 6 mnths. I had to ask my pcp dr and much to my surprise he said yes about at the 1 yr mark. You certainly dont sound selfish- i can totally relate, ts so hard to ask others for rides, tc
Michele....would so appreciate your update...
Sorry everyone! I haven’t been on here much! It is now 8 months and a quick update…I am doing excellent! Back to work full time and no issues other then my crazy hair around my incision still growing in and waiting for it to get long enough to style! No more Keppra as of 2 months after the surgery and I felt amazing once I was off the Keppra! I still have some itching and numbness on the incision and a small indent in my forehead…but apparently no one notices it but me! No headaches other then when a storm is coming! Then I sometimes get a little pressure in the incision area. Hope all is well with everyone and thankful to have this behind me!
