Upcoming coiling with a stent

It's been a while since I was last here. I had originally posted that my Annie was inoperable. I did not accept that answer, which led me to a neuro-interventional radiologist at UCLA. They performed an angiogram and determined that coiling can be done. My Annie is in my posterior communicating artery. According to the doctor a large part of the artery is diseased. At this point we are just going to treat the Annie and worry about the rest of it later if necessary.

During the angio the doctor kept pushing on the vein in my neck. Afterwards I learned that he was doing that in order to stop the blood flow to the Annie. It turns out that I have a small vein coming out of the other side of the Annie. When the blood flow was stopped the blood continued to flow to other parts of my brain via other veins. This small blood vessel branching out of the Annie is the reason that other docs didn't want to touch it. My doctor is very confident that coiling with a stent is the right way to go.

I have my procedure on Tuesday, December 11th and am anxious and eager to hear from others that have had the procedure. My doc says that I'm not going to feel good for a while.

Any tips and advice would be appreciated.

hi Natalie! i hope you have family , friends and neighbors to help you on your recovery so we'll keep you in our thoughts & prayers for the 11th & beyond!

Hi Natalie, I had a PED inserted back in may, my recovery was pretty good, I hardly had a headache after but did have a fair bit of dizziness. There are quiet a few on the site that have had coiling & stents. I think the worst was that we seem to get tired very quickly. I am thinking positive thoughts for your upcoming procedure. Stay positive life is beautiful.
