Hello friends!
I do not get on here as much as I should, I enjoy reading all of the discussions & blogs when I do. I no longer can work or drive since my surgery and there are days I feel like I am going to climb the walls. I started doing something that I love and helps pass time during the day when I am alone. It is called Zentangle and it is good for the brain, relaxing and I love seeing my work when I finish one. I called it doodling when I was younger!! Look up Zentangle and just start with something small and see how it turns out! I have always loved making things but find I can not concentrate on my scrapbooks, cards and other projects like I once did. I can get lost in the Zen because you have so many different tangles you can make. To start all you need is pen or pencil and a piece of paper. Look under patterns and tangles for ideas!
Start tangling!!
Pat - this is really a wonderful way to focus, thank you so much for sharing!
Just to add to Ms Pat’s information - here is a link to the people who started it all!

And as Pat suggests start with what you have on hand. There are many websites and books out there. One of my local art supply stores has paper, pens and books just for zentangle if you want them. A friend of mine used a template so she doesn’t measure the squares anymore.
Thanks so much, I've done this all my life but never new their was a name or art form to describe it. I looked it up, and it's really interesting and makes me appreciate and want to keep my "" scribble drawings" that's what I use to call them. I haven't really done any since my ruptured aneurysm, but I'm going to try again now that I saw your post. Thanks so much!
Hello! I am new to this group, but I am glad to see this post about Zentangle. I had a coiling done for an unruptured cerebral aneurysm a year ago and have been experiencing anxiety, lethargy, etc., etc. I recently took a Zentangle class and found it so relaxing - and fun.
Ellen, did you take a class from a CZT? I’ve been looking into it and wondered how that is. And thanks for joining, the people in this group are great! Well okay, the people in the BAFSG are all great, but the people here are really great!
Yes, the class was taught by a CZT. And she was a great teacher - very patient and the steps were easy to follow. It was a very low-stress class!
Oh Good Ellen thanks! I got us hooked up with one in Ashevile in April. It’s three hours long does that sound about right?
Yes, it does. The one I took was spread out over six weeks, but that was because it was part of an Osher Lifelong Learning program. I'm sure you'll have fun. Enjoy!
We will and I’m more boosted by your experience! Thanks!
