The ped is not the same as coiling…you can find out more about the pipeline embolization device if you google it. I may not have explained it adequately.
Hi Deb! hope you do better!
I had the Pipe done. The first day I had strong headaches, but then they disappear. For a while I had pressure in my head (until 5 months after the procedura), difficult to concentrate, and then I began to experience problems in my sight, seeing flash lights sometimes, and a few times I lost about 40% of the sight (like somebody painting gray 40% of the tv screen) in the left eye (where the aneurysm was), and 1 time total black for about 1 minute. All of those symptoms have disappeared slowly, and I felt much more better than before the procedure. I do not have headaches anymore, just some times the problems in the sight of the left eye.
I did not have per
After my coiling same sight problems still
What is aped

Thanks. I tried googeling it and got virtually no results. I may have made a mistake. I will try again.
Thank you. I have learned something. The Pipeline Procedure is similar to coiling in the way it travels through an artery and up into the brain. The Pipeline places a stint at the aneurysm and the coil is placed into the aneurysm. I would think that headachs would be common to either procedure. These videos are very informative.
But the pipeline have advantages that coiling does not have. The pipeline is newer technology than coiling.
Please read this document, thought technical explains the advantages and risks associated with the Pipe:
I have clipping of 2 aneurysms right side brain and i have bad headaches every day most days it feels like I’m having another aneurysm and no one knows what or how to deal with it but I’m alive not sure if it’s a good thing
My sister had this procedure at the end of April of this year. She has had bad headaches almost daily and is on a lot of pain medication to manage the headaches. Her aneurysm was very large and had a wide neck. She was told she would probably have them for about 6 months and then hopefully they could get her off the pain meds and begin feeling better. She goes in to see her surgeon in November so we will see what happens then. Barbara
Hi Deb, I had headaches for 3 or 4 days after the procedure in 2010.
Please rest and take your time for recovery.
Good luck, giovanni
I had the pipeline inserted in October 2012. I initially had severe headaches for the first 4 months from the procedure causing swelling and steroids helped alongside pain medication and as much rest as I could get. Since then I have suffered from terrible migraines. I now have preventative medication for the migraine which has reduced attacks to about 1-2 a month which only last 2-3 days and are less severe meaning that I can take pain relief and continue with some activities rather than having to go to bed. I don't know if the size and site of the aneurysm has an effect on if you are more or likely to suffer headaches after the procedure or not but my neurologist is of the opinion that any trauma to the brain from any cause is likely to result in head pain of some type and she treats many people after accidents and injuries as well as surgeries.
