I had a ruptured brain aneurism on November 1, 2013. My doctor coiled the aneurism, I spent two weeks in the hospital. I am now home receiving in home physical therapy to help get back my strength and walking skills. My biggest problem is pain in my buttocks and legs which has been with me every day since the aneurism. Has anyone else experienced this, I will be going for pain management next week to see if that will help.
Hi Marilyn...I wish I could help .. about pain in legs and buttocks...I had pain in my shoulder and top of back...and was told it was the position I was in when they did my coiling...I had P/T twice...it has been 3years since coiling and the pain in shoulder is much better...I am glad you are going for pain management...and I think I have seen this effect by others on the site and hope you get more response...Continued healing thoughts out to you ~ Colleen
Hi Marilyn - I did have lots of leg and back pain as I was recovering - I was told it was from lying in bed for so long. There were days that it hurt so bad that I wasn't able to do physical therapy. Slowly it went away as I learned to walk again and became more active...did lots of "pushing through" the pain - and my wonderful physical therapist gave me lots of exercises to strengthen my back and legs. I hope the pain management helps you.
Take Care,
Mary
Hi Marilyn- the pain confuses me-its like a numb pain like when you sit on the floor too long and your leg goes numb , then when you try to get up and walk there is great pain. That's the best way I can describe it. Early on there was terrible cramping spasm type pain and I would beg them to put me back in bed which they ignored my req and I thought they were mean but later found out it was drs orders to keep me in wheelchair as long as possible. Then as I went to outpatient therapy they always asked my pain level and id say 2- I think I was so numb or the nuerotin worked initially?? Anyway pain increased and dr doubled nuerotin to no avail so we discontinued. Currently pain is entire left side and feet, hips and hand especially causing a limp. When you say buttocks do you mean hips? or the actual gluteus maximus muscles? One exercise was to squeeze the gluteus's while lying down on back??? this one confused me and I seriously wondered about therapist's expertise!-lol, please let me know re pain management, people say it gets better but after 53 months I am getting discouraged. Wow you did well only in hospital 2 weeks! I was in 9 weeks, best of luck with the pm specialist. All I was given was Tylenol as I recovered
My pain was in my right hip down to the back of my right knee. I limped badly. My PT worked with me intensively until it was gone. Hope your pain leaves you soon.
