Hello friends,
I’m so pleased to have found this support group on March 1st. This is my first post.
My sister had clipped Annie 18 yrs ago, my dear brother just past in July … I thought I better get checked… yup… Me too! Thankfully it’s small, 4mm. In for clip on March 25th. I have a great surgeon and his staff, feeling blessed to be with lovely supportive friends around me and this wonderful community here, online… Words don’t really teach… Only experience teaches, therefore I owe you ALL tremendous gratitude.

Welcome M.A.! Love your positive attitude! I will be thinking of you on March 25, please let us know when you have a chance how everything went.

Thank you, it’s the waiting that’s the difficult part. I just want to get in and start the recovery process.

Wish you all the best with your surgery! Eat well and keep calm (as much as possible). I had a 4mm aneurysm clipped on Oct 28th. Waiting is the worst part and soon you'll be on the road to recovery!

Wow, your family is truly blessed to have found the annies before ruptures (at least I assume). I guess I probably should reword that - having a brain annie is not so "blessed", but being able to fix it is. I see you live in MA and must be going to Boston? I live in Western MA and had a wonderful surgeon here in Springfield at Baystate for my coiling/stent (unfortunately, PA wrangled my doctor away!).

I am so glad that you were checked and can take care of it. Let us know if we can do anything - having support and knowledge is half the battle! And, like you say, the waiting is worse than the procedure! At least I hope that you have some nice days to be able to finally enjoy some nice weather. Take care, Sherri

Hi M.A.

Good catch. You'll be among the rare few to compare and contrast surgical techniques as you might have known them from when your Sister was clipped - thankfully techniques and hardware is so much improved. I'm curious how your Sister recovered since that time. My wife was clipped in 1994 (recovered incrementally since then except for the hardware induced migraines and we're getting those somewhat under control now due to EEG Neurofeedback) and I am amazed at the night vs day difference since then. I look forward to your thoughts.

Well my sister had a difficult recovery, and to this day, 18 years later still has headaches, noise sensitivity and major fatigue. Takes a lot of medication as well. My heart goes out to her. My brother’s passing was quick. I am grateful to those on here who have shared their experience, strength and hope so people like me have some sort of gage as to what to expect. I feel positive the surgery will be excellent, and the recovery will take time. I am a go- getter. So being cautioned to be “easy” with myself recovering will be something new for me. Take things basically one day at a time. Once again, I want to extend my gratitude to those who continue to share their stories, long after they have carried on with their lives.

Tick tock . . . Counting the days till surgery
March 25th . . trying to keep busy

M.A., just had my clipping in January and went home in 3 days. I was back to work, driving, and exercising in 2 weeks and I’m 65! Hope it goes as well for you!
