Neurofeedback?

Hi all,

Firstly, if you are reading this I hope you are well! :white_heart:

I’m curious to know if anyone has heard of Neurofeedback or has any lived experience with this form of therapy, particularly post-brain bleed. I stumbled across it as a form of therapy when doing a little digging into post-brain bleed insomnia (something I know a few of us struggle with from time to time!).

It is a completely new concept to me. From what I understand, Neurofeedback claims to aid in improving a variety of brain functions non-invasively by using biofeedback. The many reviews I’ve read seem to convey a wide range of results, usually citing the practitioners training and capability to be the most important aspect of success in the therapy.

Has anyone heard of this before, researched it, or tried it?

I should note this is in no way a request for medical advice… Simply my curiosity getting the better of me :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Learned about it way back in college which the BioPsych classes had a biofeedback machine. One of the professors also taught us how to confound a lie detector test🤣. Fast forward decades and my rupture, Neurologist sent me to a NeuroPsychologist just for the biofeedback machine. Dr. Gary said he had “ditched it” the majority of his patients wouldn’t do what they had learned from it so no sense in having it. It can help someone tremendously, but they have to be willing to take responsibility and practice what is taught.
