Naproxen or ibuprofen after rupture for Bursitis

I have an occasional flair up of Bursitis. I have not had one since my rupture. I used to take Naproxen or ibuprofen for it but I am not sure if I should any longer. Of course I will ask my doctor this week, but I was wondering if anyone has been warned about taking these drugs due to there blood thinning properties.

Below is the warnings for the drugs.

"Naproxen may increase your risk of heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term or have heart disease. Do not use this medicine just before or after heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG).

Get emergency medical help if you have chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, or problems with vision or balance. Naproxen may also cause stomach or intestinal bleeding, which can be fatal.

Check with your doctor if you have : * a history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot; * heart disease, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure; * a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding; * a bleeding or blood clotting disorder"

Tony...my Q of interest is how long (times / years) did you take it for bursitis...and, the time frame between it and your aneurysm diagnosis/treatment? Assuming you had a rupture? Do you take any other meds that are on the restrictions of Naproxen and/or may have?

Pat

I have been told that I should not take any medication that contains ibuprofen as I am already taking aspirin to thin my blood. I can take paracetamol.

I only took it for a few weeks over the years each time I had a flair up . It was not an ongoing thing. My concern now is that with an existing residual aneurysm, is it wise to take it?

Like Lynn...I have been told the same thing...I must take 325 mg aspirin a day and told "no ibuprofen"...it apparently cancels out the aspirin...

Sorry I wasn't much help to you ~ Colleen
