Question I just came back from the 2 year follow up on my 3mm unruptured annie on my left ophthalmic artery - no changes WOOHOO!
But the Dr did tell me to start taking 325 aspirin daily - He said there are studies showing it helps the risk of rupture. Anyone else told this or on it?
I have had no coiling or procedures just on a watch and wait. I thought aspirin thins blood and was only taken when there was PED or coiling to prevent clots.
I would think thin blood would increase the risk not decrease - anyway just looking for feedback from fellow annie people thanks
Hey Lynn! I was on aspirin prior to rupture, was coiled and a four week stay in ICU. I was taken off all my heart meds except for a very minimal amount of a beta blocker. I was told to be careful with any aspirin type products because it is a blood thinner. I’m allowed two a week if needed and no more.
Have you looked at the research? Ask your Doc for links or go to someplace like NIH and do a search on aspirin therapy related to aneurysms. There’s a lot of folks here who are on aspirin therapy. More importantly call your doctor and let him know your concerns. He may have some other ideas.
