My Story

Here's my story, I had been having headaches for quite sometime in the past as two of my brothers suffer from migraines. In the last few months of 2012 I started waking up with headaches and by January of 2013 I said that waking up with a headache was no way to start the day. So I made an appointment with a neurologist. I go see the Doctor and of course I get the take these pills and go get an MRI of my head. When I go back to the Doctor he says "How are the pills working and BTW you have an aneurysm on your carotid artery behind your left eye". "No kidding and good morning to you too". I went to a interventional radiologist to see about a coiling procedure but the bubble was in a bad spot. So I did some homework about the surgery and decided on UCLA medical center. UCLA has a program just for aneurysm's and Dr John Frazee has 33 years experience fixing them, plus he invented the scope that's used in the brain. We decided that he would cut me right under my left eyebrow and then he would go straight back and clip the aneurysm. I went in on Monday 6/10/13 and walked out on Friday 6/14/13.
I have to say that I have been pretty lucky with my recovery as it's gone very smooth for me. I will say that all the Doctors claim that the headaches and the aneurysm's have nothing to do with each other. I beg to differ with them. I am back to a normal life with limited residual after effects.
Overall I've had tougher things to deal with but like I said I've been real lucky.

Thank you for sharing your story...~ wishing you a nice day ~ Colleen

Awesome survivor story! I agree about the headaches, too.

Sounds like your clipping surgery was "textbook smoothe"...That is awesome !

Yeah, typical of Neurosurgeons to claim headaches aren't related to aneurysms, (right..right..everyone here will claim otherwise)

Have your brothers been scanned for annies? They can be hereditary in nature, so if they haven't been, hope they soon will.

Good to know all is going well in your recovery, Peace,

Janet
