Hello,
My mom (a young 73) has an unruptured, partially thrombosed, large fusiform aneurysm on her vertebral artery right near the pica artery.
She is having the pipeline procedure tomorrow morning.
They found it by accident while she was seeing a neurologist for her foot and he noticed a small twitch in her face and suspected an aneurysm. MRI and ct scan later and here we are a week and a half later!
The doctor doing the procedure was involved in the FDA trial and approval so has lots of experience with it. He assures us she’ll be ok. Praying he’s right!
As for the surgery she is leaning toward a local instead of a general anesthesia. The doctor says ts fine and will make her recovery easier. She’s super nervous around needles and doctors so I am not sure about this choice…but it’s her decision.
Anything we should prepare for? If anyone has experience with this I’d love to hear it!
Thanks!
