I can't thank you all enough for the advice and guidance you've given me so far. My dad is in rehab right now (he's been there a week and a half), and has been diagnosed with left sided neglect...he has no movement on his left side, and seems to ignore everything that happens on his left side. Did any of you experience this? Can a person recover from it? From what I have been reading online it doesn't seem like it goes away very easily...and I am very worried if it doesn't get better he won't be able to live at home.
yessss!! Hi Sara - the physical therapists said i had left side neglect but then the occ. therapist said it was cut vision when she moved a pencil from left to right and i could not see it untill it was dead center--on both eyes, she said sometimes it comes back. i went to optomitrist he said no it was not cut vision but a big long name which i dont recall, he sold me bifocals which his theory was to let more light into the left side of the pupil but they didnt work. Even if it doesn't improve he still should be able to live at home- idid. he'll learn to go slow and compensate by moving eyes left, turning head. its like putting a piece of duct tape over the lft side of each pupil- so i cant drive, i'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers for his left side deficits-pt said 7 weeks or 7 years!!!
