I am looking for the best neurosurgeon near State College, PA. Can anyone help me?

Hi @Belka04 -

Welcome to the BA family! Admittedly, this is not a group anyone wishes to belong to, but I am sure that you will find us to be a supportive and caring community.

I am not sure how far you want to travel from State College, but my neurosurgery team is based out of Philadelphia. I know it is not exactly around the corner from you for sure, while at the same time, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility!

If you are interested, I identified both my neurosurgeon and my neuroradiologist in this post recently. They are both with Penn Medicine, and it looks like Penn Med has a location in Lancaster (Lancaster General). To my knowledge, neither of them goes out to Lancaster, but perhaps that is a “way in” through Lancaster General, if you don’t want to drive to Philadelphia.

My neurosurgeon was my go-to guy at the beginning primarily because of some complications post-rupture, but my neuroradiologist is my go-to doctor now. FWIW, my neuroradiologist placed both my coil (back when I ruptured), and my recent stent (last month). Just wanted to say that my aneurysm is located elsewhere from your carotid-ophthalmic artery.

And, we’ll give you a bonus answer too! Our friend, Senior Lady, just had a flow diverter stent placed yesterday, so some of us have been recalling our experiences for her to help her know what to anticipate. Everyone’s journey is unique, but if it helps to just understand more generally what to expect when a stent is placed.

Please let us know what questions you have and/or what we can do to support you, Tatyana!

Thank you for the warm welcome and the wealth of information! I truly appreciate your insight and support—it means a lot to feel part of such a compassionate community, even in circumstances none of us would have chosen.

Traveling to Philadelphia might not be ideal for me, as I’m looking for care options in Danville, PA. Geisinger Medical Center in Danville is a facility I’m considering since I’ve heard they have a strong neurosurgery and neuro-interventional radiology team.

If anyone has experience with Geisinger or specific specialists there, I’d love to hear your insights. It’s reassuring to know there are options, but individual experiences always help in making a more informed decision.

Thank you again for your kindness and thoughtful suggestions—it’s deeply appreciated!
