Headaches and shar pains

Hello everyone im new to this forum,i had a burst aneurysm in september 12 and just wanted to know if it is normal to still have headaches, sharp pains etc.I was diagnosed with 4 aneurysms the largest of them all was coiled, and i am due a MRI scan soon to check the others havent grown.

thanx in advance of any replies .....

Again .. Welcome Lorraine...I was coiled 2 years ago on a 9mm annie on my basilar tip...I asked my surgeon before the coiling what problems would I encounter after the coiling...he replied "headaches for about 6 months"... and this did happen along with pain to my head...which for me was swelling...~ Hope this helps you out...but when in doubt ... please call your Doctor immediately ~ Cyber~thoughts your way ~ Colleen

hi Lorraine! i only had one sah type and 3 yrs post i still get "pinches" that only last a second. You are only 4 mths so i would say its normal but anything out of the ordinary i would call them or go to the ER. I hope your feeling better so I'll keep you in thoughts & prayers!

Hi Lorraine, I am new to this forum as well.

By BA was in July 2012 and I still have headaches so yes it is normal. I also have another small one. I dont have them every day but weekly. Good luck with your next scan. My next scan isnt until July :(

Hi Lorraine,

I sure pretty sure everyone here will tell you that headaches and head pain are part and parcel of the condition. My wife was headache free for about nine months after her surgery and was so disappointed when they started to come back and now has one most days co-codimol seems to help. Best Wishes John & Sue

Thankyou all for the replies,it is greatfully recieved.

I am due to see my gp next week so i will let you all know how i get on.

Thankyou all again and best wishes to you all xx

Hello Lorriane,

I didn't realize you were from the UK, just read your profile we are in Bedfordshire. What i would like to ask you is, how do you find your after care do you get any help like physio or occupational therapist, etc. Only we have found after care help pretty poor in this area we are just past around without getting proper help no one seems to know what to do with my wife. John & Sue

hello john im afraid i have had no help whatsoever since leaving the hospital.i have found this hard to be honest as i have had so many questions about what happened but have had no one medically to talk too.

The care i recieved in the hospital was brilliant but even then no one really sat me down and told me my limitations ect on what i should or shouldnt do.

Even my specialist on my first followup appointment didnt really care how i was feeling,so in answer to your question john there is no after care for patients like myself and your wife and its disgusting to be honest.

best wishes to you and your wife.

Hi Lorraine

I wasn't told much either. I was warned about worsening pain, but I've had a number of other problems they didn't warn me of and have no real explanation for. That's surgeons and radiologists for you though, as long as the imaging shows the aneurysm is fixed they think they have fixed you! After care seems pretty poor in the UK. If you are having thinking difficulties or memory problems you should find there is a local 'Acquired Brain Injury Service' your GP can refer you to. They can consider if you need any rehab advice.

My pain was partly nerve irritation. Discuss that possibility with your GP or neurosurgical service (there is probably a neurovascular specialist nurse you can contact at the neuro centre) as different drugs might work.

My pain has gradually improved with time, but I still need to take a preventative drug for nerve pain. I hope you find some form of relief too.

Judith

Hello Lorraine,

Thanks for your reply is very much what i expected you to say, going by what other people have told us as well it seems pretty general, it is disgusting and i wish i knew what i could do to rectify things it is so frustrating for Sue because we just keep getting shunted from one department to another they all promise alot but deliver nothing. At present she has just seen a psychologist they said it may help with her memory i am keeping my fingers crossed . Have you given up asking now , this seems to be the best place to get answers.
