Has any one heard about a genetic based test to predict stroke from ruptured brain aneurysim?

has anyone done this blood test & is there enough research to know if its a dependable test ?

Hi Moni,
Go to

pg 13, there is an article by Dr. Mario Zuccarello, who is on our Medical Advisory Board, about the Familial Intracranial Aneurysm Study (FIA) which discusses this research.

In the same newsletter, there is information about how to participate in this study and other aneurysm related studies.

many thanks I’ll check it out

Someone correct me on this if I am wrong but…

  1. Although little is still known about aneurysms, there is a thought that some people are genetically predisposed to them. Of course lifestyle plays a huge part in it as well. Smoking, drinking, drugs and high blood pressure seem to be a fast train to getting there.

  2. If an aneurysm ruptures it is a hemorrhagic stroke.

It seems that genetics and lifestyle are probably better indicators of the possibility of suffering a rupture.
