Coils compacting, stent recommended

Hi, Folks!

Question for anyone who can help:

I am 2 yrs post-SAH, ruptured basilar tip aneurysm. It was coiled successfully. Angio revealed two unruptured RICA aneurysms. The latter two were stented with PEDs. My most recent angio (last month) revealed the basilar coils have compacted and the anny is refilling. Dr. Mawad recommends more coils plus a stent (not a PED stent). Anyone else have similar experience? Results? Recommendations? FYI: the RICA annys are holding fine with PEDs with an anticipated 100% occlusion by this July's 2 yr date of original insertions.

I am anxious to see more replies...I too had a basilar aneurysm tip coiled...at 18 months from the coiling told they compacted, but it was too early to do anything, because of other complications they felt I needed to continue to heal...I am to have an angiogram in June and be rechecked...I am a bit scared of the outcome...~ Colleen

Melanie...there are a number of members who have the basilar...expect you will get lots of responses...

So glad to know about your PEDs...

Prayers for great feedback and your next results...

Pat

Colleen...so hope your healing has performed well...

Have the docs talked with you in advance...on all the options...for your next step...

Can you/hubby make a decision of the options before this angios ...so if the decision is made, they can continue w/the next step...thus, hopefully, keeping your angio rad at a lower level...vs having to go back for another repeat... You and docs may have already discussed this option...

Hugs and prayers...for your best decisions and recovery...

Pat
