My husband is about to fly (hr flight) and wondering if there's any concern about this. His ruptured annie was Nov 8th last year and he had the coiling procedure done. He seems to be doing fine and back to work but concerned about him taking his 1st flight. Will get get thru the metal detector with his Coils? and can the altitude affect his brain? He's flying from N Minnesota, International Falls to MPLS, the trip lasts for about an hour, any advise would be great! thanks tam
Hey Tami,
There will be no problems with Jim flying...The coils will not set off the metal detectors (they're made of platinum which is user friendly to metal detectors) and the flight will be of no concern as all cabins in modern aircraft are pressurized. To date i've never heard of one single aneurysm survivor who has encountered any type of problems with flying post surgery. Peace, Janet
Janet is so right...I have flown since my coils numerous times and all went well...~ Colleen
Hi Tami, I am a survivor of a ruptured aneurysm. I had bypass brain surgery. And have just returned from a flight from Washington to Canada, there was no problem. The flight was enjoyable- duration a hour and a half. No headaches, comfortable with the ears, and air pressure. I want to go somewhere again. Before summer is over! Your husband is going to be alright, alright, alright. Keep the Faith.
I HAD A RUPTURD ANEURYMS FEW YRS BACK....ITS GONNA BE OK TO FLY, I REMEMBER AFTER MY ANEURYSM I WAS SCARED TO FLY EVEN MY DOCTOR TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OK..I WAS SCARED GOING THROUGHT THE METAL DETECTORS BUT ITS WAS GOOD N BEEN TRAVELING EVERY YRS...
