Another one 2 years later

Hello Everyone,

I had my 2 year post op angiogram on Monday. The old annie has sealed itself off and no worries, but, now I have another one on the flipside, ICA, 2 mm now. So, here we go again. Why is my artery weak? It is not hereditary. Is there anything to reverse weak arteries? Just wondering. Thanks for reading my frustrations.

Hello Karen,

Sorry to hear you've got another aneurysm to deal with...I take it you were coiled last time around? From what i've heard, "weakened arteries" can be due to a connective tissue disorder, however fixing that problem is another story (I don't think there is such a fix , not yet at least ) Is your blood pressure fairly normal?

Best of luck to you, peace, Janet

Hi Janet,

Thanks for your reply. My bp has been spiking lately, as well as my heart rate. My heart rate has hit 95 to 105 and for no apparent reason. I am seeing my primary care in a couple of weeks to see what this is about. Just another part of the journey.

thanks,

Karen

Karen,

There has been a lot of info, I think including the BAF site, on those who have multiple... some diagnosed w/initial...others, as yours, develop later...I know a number who have more than one.

It suggests to me, the weak areas are congenital...something triggers growth at some time... i.e. five years prior had had two MVAs (not my failures) four months apart; the headaches began...I have termed it "the dormant seed that gets propagated"...

W/could your concern/worry for a second one raise your bp? The f/up docs likely have record of your bp that day...

Please do not wait a couple of weeks; call your doc; and/or call the neuro...

Pat

Hi Pat,

My bp has been very good this past week (after the angiogram), but, I'm having episodes of the sudden head pain that is suspected to be the 'growing" time of the annie. I am also f/up with neurosurgeon on Thursday to ask some q's about getting an mra in 2 months (the growth rate of the the 1st went from 3.5-5.6 in 14 weeks. The growth rate is my biggest fear!

Thanks for your advice..

Karen

Hi Jim,

How is your annie being monitored? My neuro likes the angiograms because of clearer images. i have had 6 (including the fix) now in 2 years and wondering what the side effects those will cause. I guess it's always a trade off..hmm..

Karen

Hi Karen ... so sorry to hear this...it can be so frustrating...other than the brain aneurysm on had coiled, I have one that is 2mm behind my left eye and the last 2 years it has been watched and ok...to date...hoping the same for you...~ Colleen

Hi Karen, I"m sorry to hear this. I'll be praying for you. My one year MRI post coiling is coming up in July and I was thinking of not going. But your experience has me thinking I should go.

Please keep us posted.

Hugs, Deanna

Karen,

Hope you had good results today...

I can understand your concern about the growth...especially w/the sudden head pain... so glad your BP is down...

Please keep us updated...

Prayers,

Pat

Hi Karen-

With my MRI/MRA, it was discovered that I was born without an artery in my brain. It is actually quite common in babies for it just to not form. In my case it *may* have something to do with my aneurysm. There is no way to prove it. Because I lack the artery, all blood goes through one artery to go to other parts of the brain. Because of the shape, size and placement of my annie, my neurosurgeon thought that I might need a bypass during my clipping. I wound up with 3 clips. Luckily they did not impede blood flow and I did not need the the bypass.

I'm not sure where I am going with this. Just putting my stuff out there. Has your surgeon ever mentioned bypass? Unfortunately, with all the research I have done, I have found that there are just some things that may never be known. I wish you all the best.

Terri

Thanks Jim,

I met with neuro yesterday and will see him if i have severe head pain or in August and then will decide tests. Tonight I had a "flutter" in my right ear and felt strange for a few seconds. My head is pounding on the right side now. Geez...I am flying next friday for vacation. Praying for this to stop.

Thanks again,

Karen

Thanks Colleen..I think stress is my enemy. I need to learn how to meditate or maybe yoga..Anyone else tried these to keep stress away?

Karen

Hi Deanna,

How are you? I've never skipped a check. Thanks for your prayers. I will keep posting.

Hugs, karen

Hi Terri,

That's really interesting. My neuro didn't mention that yet. the annie is above the old one up the right carotid artery. At this rate, I guess that could be a possibility for bypass if this artery is this thin. thank you for your info..Off to try to sleep.
