Glad surgery went well. I was also cut on the right side of my head and my skull was put back with screws. I also have an indention on the right side of my head at my temple. As for feeling the screws well I hate to tell you but that is just something you learn to live with. I can still tell at times where the drianage tube was in my head. At times like cold weather, or rainy days I can still feel where the screws are in my head and it has been ten years. The pain is not near as bad as it was at first. Like I say you learn to deal with it and all the other odd things that come with brain surgery recovery. I remember hearing clicking sounds after the first month of surgery, They said it was the bone plates moving back together. It wouldn't hurt to call your doc just for peace of mind. I know I called back to Emory many times and talked with the nurse practioner. Hang in there and rest as much as you can.
Hi Caroline, Your indent is probably normal. I have an indent plus can feel areas in my skull where there are indents with bumps (probably the screws). My clipping was May16 this year. Thanks to another thread on this site about dents after clipping, I was not caught off guard. For some reason they do not warn you about this before surgery. Hope this helps.
Take Care, Mary
Hello Caroline, hope all is well. I had clipping done, i also had an indent earlier on post op.
It might seem deeper to you now because there is so much swelling around that area. It's still early days for you.
The indent won't be so prominant once everything settles. If the screws are causing too much discomfort, you might want to call your Doc. Just remember it's early days and things are tender and sore.
