Yoga after surgery

I was wondering if anyones does yoga who has unruptured aneurysms.I have 3 unruptured and one clipped 5 years ago.I started doing a yoga class but now Im wondering if that is evan a good idea…having the blood rush to my head during someone those positions. What are you thoughts??

Hi Patti, I have no idea about what a doctor might say, but in yoga classes I have heard instructors say ‘don’t do this or that’ if you have high blood pressure. That said, there are now oodles of varieties of yoga classes: chair yoga, yin yoga, restorative yoga, that you could do or modify once you hear from a doctor.

I have this question too! I have just been diagnosed with a 3mm aneurysm and I love yoga. I did a Google and it seemed to say definitely no inversions (i.e. head/hand/shoulder stands, plough etc.) but there was less agreement about forward bends / downward dogs. It’s difficult to know what’s best. I will ask my teacher - I do Iyengar so they are well trained in this stuff.
