What was this?

Hi,

Since my last doctors visit and mri we have learned that there is a 50/50 chance i will need follow up surgery. I have been feeling well overall. Apparently there is some blood pooling by the coils so we are on a wait and see.

My concern is this…

This morning i was having my tea and writing an email. I stood up to get ready for work and when i went to place the phone on the mantle everything suddenly went black. I want to say i could see some out of my left eye, but some colours maybe? Out of my right eye it was black. For whatever reason my focus was on my peripheral vision and all out of that one eye was pitch black. (My husband was told if there was no peripheral vision when i first got home from the hospital that he should bring me back.)

It only lasted a few minutes and then everything went back to normal. (Other than my racing heart because it scared me.) I sat for a minute to see what would happen next. No headache, no more vision loss…so i went about my day and got ready and went to work

Has this happened to anyone before? Or does anyone know what that was?

My plan is to finish up work tomorrow and when i am on vacation call my neurosurgeon and see if he wants to move up my tests.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you all.b

I had lost peripheral vision after my SAH. It slowly returned, not completely but it greatly improved after the last coiling. My vision does wonky things at times but it’s usually things going extremely out of focus. I think calling your Dr is very smart. If this was a sign your husband was to watch out for, might be best to contact sooner rather than later. If you have a patient portal where you can email the team, you might try that. It’s an easy way to communicate. For my doctor, the triage RN receives the email, takes it to the assistant, either an NP or PA, and sometimes straight to the Dr. I would get an email back and sometimes the triage RN would call. The teaching hospital I go to always has a Neurosurgeon student on call and there’s a licensed Neurosurgeon on call as well. They have never gotten upset with calls after hours.

hi, could be lots of things like migraine in the eye to brain area or a mini stroke tia, or bleed or other. If it happens again go to ER then they can find out what it is. I think this happened to me when i fell and also i fainted but they think it was because of MM, prayers you get this sorted out, tc

oh, forgot to say dont worry if you need re-coiling, its an easy procedure and at least you are aware- i was blind-sided before i got internet and learned about the 25% chance of coils compacting/shifting:slightly_smiling_face:

lol smiley face didnt work, it just says “smily face” {{{sigh}}}
