Why is it that some people refuse to understand or think we're making excuses if we behave differently since we had our brain surgery but if we say something they don't like or agree with their opinion they will say to someone else "well...you know they had brain surgery".
Hi Valerie! I felt the exact same way as you early in my healing! Now, 3 years later, and after reflecting on how my encounter with this beast affected both me and those closest to me! I truly feel that it's not a case where some people closest to you 'refuse' to understand & more of a case of them just not being able to understand the effects that this has had on our lives; heck we can't even understand this at times! And all due to the lack of public awareness over the past few decades! The good news here is that the "awareness" is now taking a significant shift and all due to the amazing efforts of this Foundation and everyone who now shares a deep Passion to help raise awareness. And not only on the risks & symptoms; but also on the effects a rupture or brain surgery leaves a survivor with. I truly feel that it is now my responsibility to share all that I have learned & continue to learn thru this Journey with those closest to me and this has certainly helped a great deal with helping them to understand that "excuses" we are not making and is more of a case where we are constantly trying to adjust to our "new normal" and persevere thru each Beautiful day we are Blessed to have :))! Hope this helps & hang in there girl!!! /Michele
Thank you Michele for responding and I love your positive attitude!
It's been 2 yrs since my surgery but I just had to share my amusement over someone whispering behind me... "well, you know she had brain surgery" to another person, simply because I didn't agree with their opinion on something....lol!
Hi Valerie...This is so true...I hope you were able to view Michele's video you shared from utube...really hits home...and goes along with your post...~ wishing you a beautiful day ~ Colleen
I was hoping to watch the video but I can't get it to stream at work and I've been working 10hr days so, too tired when I get home. Will try to catch it this weekend.
thanks Colleen :)
I appreciate your reply Jim but I posted this more as a humorous note. Plus, I don't consider myself brain damaged, does anyone else feel this way?
