Question about blood pressure

Hi..I had ruptured subarachnoid on 1/17/14. BP was high prior to but not horribly, and doc had not advised medication. Post rupture they have me on very high doses of aspirin, plavix and BP medications but my BP is actually higher now. The lower number is my problem. Last night it was 101 sitting up but dropped to 84 lying down. My father said BP meds take a while to start really working. Any suggestions or advice?

I would call your doc immediately. I was advised by my doctor to report if the bottom # goes higher suddenly. I’m sure other members will have more experience and can share their stories, but don’t wait to call your doctor. Lying on your left side when you sleep is recommended for high BP.

Sandy...agree w/Sarge...call your doc...

I agree...seek medical attention...only a Doctor can help you with your Bp...~ I know I have problems with that low number being high...and Doctors watch carefully ~ Keep us posted ~ Colleen

Hi Sandy,
Did you get the BP issue resolved?

I have a follow up scan this Tuesday and will address it then. I think that maybe my home monitor is running high. I know it's not smart but I'm so, so tired of calling the doctor only for them to say, "well if you feel you need to, go to the ER". Docs have a nasty way of quickly labeling women as neurotic if they have any concerns so I'm not even going there. :0(

I understand! I’ve had a few things that made me go hmmmm, and I know they would have said “go to the ER”, so I didn’t go down that road! You can take your BP at Target or a drug store too, remember you might get “white coat” blood pressure - nervousness from the appointment elevates it. Good luck Tuesday!
