Pressure

Today I am having a headache. This time it is near both temples with sharp pains. But on the top of my head when you touch it with your fingers my head feels tingly. I’ve put ice packs on and off all day and laid down. This has been going on for hours. My eyelids look a little swollen. I don’t know if this is normal or something I should be worried about. I don’t want to jump over every little thing. Has anyone experienced this? I have been having issues with my neck on the left side and thought maybe that’s causing it. I don’t have a neurosurgeon since I left JFK hospital. I just go back there to have my tests done. If anyone can give me some input, it would greatly be appreciated…thanks you …Debbie

Hello Deborah,

Were you coiled or clipped in your brain aneurysm surgeries? That info might help us help you somehow.

Regards,

Ed

Debbie if you are ever worried go and see Doc as stress doesn't help us. (my surgeons advice).

Put your mind at rest.

I was coiled and after I had shunt in, my head hurt and itched so I bathed it in warm salt water in case the scar was infected. (My Mums remedy for everything).

I wish you all the best and hope you feel better xx

Hi Debbie,

I take Alprazolam when I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious. I also go to the ER and have them check the coil. We are vulnerable after these frightening experiences.
The Aneurysm was coiled for me & not clipped. I’m so very blessed my husband insisted I go to the ER when I had such mild symptoms.

Don’t hestitate to go to the ER. It will relieve the anxiety. I wish you well and most of all peace of mind! Let me know how you are. All the Best! Peggy

Hi Debbie-
I would definitely go to ER and get it checked. My stent and 3 coils were placed 7/13 and I have been to ER once since with a horrible headache. They did a CT and called my neurosurgeon and sent me home:)
I was never so happy to be diagnosed with a migraine. Just to put your mind at ease have it checked.

Praying for you,
Shannon

HELLO DEBBIE, SO SORRY TO READ OF YOUR DISCOMFORT SYMPTOMS. IT WOULD BE IMPERATIVE THAT YOU SECURE A NEUROLOGIST THAT CAN DO EXTENSIVE LAB TESTS TO DETERMINE FACTORS & ORIGIN CAUSING THESE UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS.

REMEMBER, YOUR BODY IS COMMUNICATING SIGNALS OF IRREGULARITIES. IT WOULD BE WISE TO HEED THEM.

AFTER MY PIP {PIPELINE STENT} OCT 2012, WAS LIFE SAVER FOR 7MM BEHIND EYE-- BRAIN ANEURYSM. I ONLY GET OCCASIONAL SCALP ACHE & JUST RUB IT. BUT NO MORE DIZZINESS OR BLURRY VISION .

JUST BE PROACTIVE ~PERSISTENT FOR PROPER CARE. GOOD LUCK TO YOU WITH HEALING PRAYERS>>> TeeKay

Go get it checked for piece of mind!
Good luck!

Go to the ER! and, get a good neurologist in your area as soon as you can. You must have professional help - your life is too important to rely on us for questions like this! Good luck. Chilly

Where do you live, perhaps you are closer than you think to a neurosurgeon who is familiar with your procedure… Or even trained your dr.

Unfortunately this is common. I suffer from a lot of pain. I have gone to the ER for it and they do a CTScan, give you medication to help with the pain and send you home. I suggest staying home. You will be much more comfortable. What I do is lay down, take pain medication and sleeping medication. The pain will most likely not go away but you will fall asleep and when I wake up I feel better. My aneurism ruptured three years ago and although the pain isn’t as often, it’s still acouple times a week.
Get your rest and feel better. You will get thru this. It takes time. God bless

The neck pain would worry me. For peace of mind go get a CTA.

I have pressure headaches all the time. The only thing that helps is sleep! Initially I did get them checked out by my neuroradiologist but CT scans were ok. Now I just accept them.

Debbie

I hope today is a better day for you. I agree with the others telling you to call your doc. You didn't say how long it has been since your aneurysm or if it ruptured. Mine has been a while.

I have migraines and small seizures since my aneurysms. I had one ruptured and it was clipped and one clipped three months later that wasn't ruptured. I have hesitated emailing this to you because I didn't want to worry or make you feel worse. But then I realized how it makes me feel relief when I read others having the same issues I am having....I don't feel so alone or 'crazy'. I do see a neurologist, one that specializes in seizures now. They pretty much go hand in hand with my migraines. Some weeks I can have migraines daily some weeks , none. My symtms are similar to yours, sharp pains, both temples and tingly head. But not always, sometimes I have a thumping in the forehead. My neck feels stiff/sore and I'm not sure if that's because I am just tensed because of the headaches. Sometimes I get weird feelings. My nose will get ice cold. A few times a place on my forehead swells a little bit, enough to alarm me. Sometimes I will have very sensitive areas on my head that hurt when I touch it. And almost always when I have a migraine my left eye droops. A neurologist told me once that this is a pretty typical thing for a lot of people with migraines, to have an eye droop.

I don't want to make you feel hopeless like you are going to have these headaches long term. I just want you to know you are not alone and that others have the same feelings. But also know that its ok...more than ok to give your doc a call and see him or her about them too. It is scary and you are NOT being a complainer. Your headaches are real. And some of us survivors have them, some don't. some have them long term some don't. I think it all depends on how much our brains were irritated. Kind of like any traumatic brain injury. That's my unscientific claim. LOL

Hang in there girl. I would like to keep talking to you. I know how it feels to wake up in the middle of the night with headaches and tears. You are not alone.

Barb

If you are having an unusual headache, I think if it was me, I would definitely have it checked out. If you don't have a doctor to call, call the hospital in your area and talk to a nurse in the emergency room. I hope you are ok and God Bless you. Audrey

Yep, definitely see your doc. It’s better to have false alarms than become worse because you didn’t ask. You’ve had a serious brain injury, not just a simple cold. Get it checked so you won’t worry, stress and anxiety aren’t good for you either . Hope you feel better soon xxxx

I was coiled. I don’t want to be one of those that runs to the ER. BUT I don’t want to be stupid either. Woke up this morning with a slight headache so far and that feeling of pressure. Yesterday my BP was high too. Oh I just don’t know. Frustrating

I've read through the replies to this entry and I add my wishes for your recovery. My own experience with scalp pain started 2 or 3 years before the aneurysm burst. I saw a neurologist but his diagnosis was that it was related to my migraines. No imaging was ordered by him. An increase in a medication I was taking for migraine prevention (propranolol ER) stopped the scalp pain when increased from 80mg to 120 mg per day. After reading the forum replies to your question, it certainly seems possible that the aneurysm was present at that time and at the time I saw an ENT MD for the migraines. He ordered a CT w dye, but the radiologist said "we don't do dye for headaches". So twice my aneurysm was "overlooked" by people who could have caught it before it burst.

If I were you I would get to the ER or my neurologist for a scan with dye. It is too scary to wonder if something is going on that needs immediate attention.

My best,

Jackie

I think they are right, did you go? It’s not worth the risk. I know what you mean about worrying for nothing but that sounds like a lot to go through. Do you feel any better today?

Just wondering how you are doing Debbie? Did you go get checked, or did it go away?
Jody

Stress isn't any good for us so if I was you, rather than get a stress headache get it looked at and put your mind at rest. Good Luck hope you feel better xx
