Pressure in head and headache after pipeline stent

Yes, I’ve been wondering about this myself. I had the same surgery almost a year ago. I still have pressure in my head every day. They are awful headaches that won’t go away. I am going to my family doctor tomorrow to find out about these also. Yes you’re not alone you and I are literally in the same boat. Hang in there!

Hey Tiffany,
Welcome to Bens Friends.

I can assure you, pressure headaches post neurosurgery are not unusual and some Dr’s can be fairly quick in writing them off as ‘Normal’ in fact I had one tell me ‘Well, what did you expect… …you’ve had brain surgery…’ I thought it a bit blunt at the time, but honest. The problem was that there was an issue which required surgical follow up. But, in saying that, even after having that surgical follow up, the pressure headaches and the associated symptoms continued for me.

Headaches are one of those things that identifying intensity is very individual to the sufferer. Trying to get others (including Dr’s) to comprehend just how bad ‘BAD’ can actually be for you is impossible. I’ve lost count of how often I’ve been told ‘Ohh headaches, yea, I get them…’ Not like these they don’t. These aren’t just headaches, everybody gets headaches. These are bolts of agony sent from the gates of hell.

A simple C.T. scan can pick up on fluid within the skull (Often the cause of head pressure) and most PCP’s can order a C.T. scan. If specialist follow up is needed then the radiologists report should state so. Some radiologists may recommend you see your PCP to have the report ‘interpreted’ as often it can be full of medical jargon, which to non-medical people (You and I) can sometimes be difficult to decipher. It’s much safer to have a trained medical professional explain it all to you in person, then if you have questions you can ask them, then and there.

Hope it helps

Welcome Tiffanys0604! When you see your doctor today, ask about increasing protein and hydration. It’s odd how much these two simple steps can help control headaches. I read your story and you are amazing! If you have time, and don’t mind, would you help this member out Daughter, 26, BA unruptured. Can you help with tough decisions? - #24 by Boots62

I feel you can help much better than I can. Let us know how your visit goes. It’s how we learn and support others here!

All the best,
