My aneurysm was found in june of 2013. Had my surgery in july. Had to have the pipeline device because of size, coils didn't stay in. Has anyone else had the pipeline? My doc told me the longest study on the pipeline is 7 years and it is someone in Europe. I am afraid of the unknown with this device. My healing is going very well. I feel good. Any comments?
As you are probably aware, the Pipeline or PED is fairly new in the USA. From what I know it has very specific uses and treats aneurysms that would otherwise be untreatable with clipping an coiling. If your doctors are telling you the aneurysm has been controlled or it is gone and you feel great, than it worked for you. Don't worry about the unknown because there is nothing you can do about it. Many of us on this forum are alive today because of these groundbreaking treatment options. You are a success story! Live every day to the fullest.
I had the pipeline just over a week ago. My aneurysm was 2.1 cm by 2 cm. I was my doctor's 2nd time. So far going good. Though I do have light and hearing sensitivity and doctors believing I should not still need pain meds for headaches. I too am looking for others with this procedure and how are they doing a few months or years down the road.

I had the sensitivity to light also. I was the 58th patient at abbott to have the pipeline. I hope you have a fast recovery! Are you on Plavix for 6 months with a aspirin?
Yes, I feel very blessed. I will find out in 4 months how it is healing.
yes

Hi Deb,
Well, you have to figure it this way....you're feeling good....do get all your follow-ups scans...and I think each and every one of us here are in the same position when it comes to the unknown and the 'what if's'of our procedures, be it PED's, stents, coils and clips....none of us 'know' for sure what the end results will wind up being on our procedures. You're feeling alright--that the #1 big deal right there! you're way ahead of the game already.
Peace to you as you wander thru this journey, Janet
I also had the pipeline. It was done on March 28th. I too live in fear of the unknown. My aneurysm was also large and ended up having two put in. I feel great and went back to work 3 weeks after surgery, but the anxiety is unrelentless.

I am glad I found this site. It does make me feel at ease to hear from others that have had the pipeline.

My doc had to make two attempts to get the PED in. Just had 3 month angio and he said all was great. Thankful for it as I had a giant annie which are difficult to treat.
I had the pipeline done on July 16th of this year; I went back to work 3 weeks later and so far am doing exceptionally well. I’m a bit tired and have a bit of anxiety but for the most part, back to normal. I too worry about the future but we do have the luxury of having people a few years ahead of us in the process so we can look to them. Also, they are making new advances in this field constantly; I think we just need to remain positive that if problems arise in the future, then they will be able to fix us again:) I struggled greatly with the choice of pipeline or coiling/stents (clipping was not an option for me) but the pipeline is the only option where your aneurysm completely goes away potentially-which sounds pretty good to me:) I feel lucky that I had this option as I can’t imagine living in fear the rest of my life that my coils would compact etc.
I actually have both, the coils and pipeline
Sorry, I don’t know anything about the “pipeline” but I hope and pray all goes well.
Double barrier then:) I pray we will all be fine:)
