Oregon Neurosurgeon?

We are tossing around the idea of moving to Oregon in the not to distant future and one of our concerns is access to a high-quality neurosurgeon.

The two areas we are looking at are within 2 1/2 hours of Eugene and Portland. Does anyone have a recommendation for a neurosurgeon in either of these areas? I currently use Stanford Hospital and Dr. Steinberg who is the head of neurosurgery and I love Stanford and access to all it offers.

Thanks! ~ Laura

Laura, I wish you well in your search. I know a great Neurosurgeon in Washington he was the Fellow when I ruptured if I couldn’t have mine, Dr Shaw would be my next pick His wife was one of the best Neuro RNs they had

I found this site https://www.ratemds.com/best-doctors/or/?specialty=neurosurgeon

There’s this. http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/area/or/oregon-health-and-science-university-6920570/neurology-and-neurosurgery

Thank you! We are also looking at eastern Washington.

If you end up in eastern Washington, I can recommend Jonathan D Carlson in Spokane, Wa. He's with Providence Inland Neurosurgery and Spine. He did my emergency crainiotomy, he thoroughly explained my options and what to expect with each. I trust him totally.

I had a craniotomy at OHSU in Portland last December by Dr Dogan. I was very happy with the neurosurgeon and his staff, they took great care of me.

RaGena that’s where Dr Shaw works! http://www.neuroandspine.com/doctors/kunal-shah-md. He was the first Dr to actually sit down and talk with me, (mine was at a conference in TX) not hover over the bed or stand in the doorway, or immediately shine a light in my eyes. He wasn’t afraid I might die and was fantastic. His mere presence helped me to relax. I had hallucinated on one of the meds. He took the time to help me reorient to my surroundings while the saline solution was pushing the med out. He always headed my case when Dr Q-W was out. He always explained what he was doing and why and had me repeat so I understood.
