So good to hear Thomas! Yes, I have two wonderful babies that need me! They keep me as normal as I can be right now. I really appreciate your words! And I so happy everything worked out well for you!

Thanks so much Jim!
Hi Wendy,
So glad to hear you are well. I have an unruptured 5mm ICA on ophthalmic segment being clipped next Tuesday and am a bit anxious at this point. Just wanting it to be over so I can wake up and say I survived. Any lingering side effects? Any other advice. My surgeon is world known and has performed over 5000 aneurysm surgeries so all I need is for my body to cooperate, I guess.
Wish me luck, and my best to you.
Millie Grace
Millie- just curious- where are you getting your surgery? (noted that you live in Henderson...)
Thank and my prayers for a successful surgery are with you-D
Hi Dana,
I’m going to barrow neurological institute in Phoenix. Have visited there before and feel confident.
Millie
Thanks---How did you find your neurosurgeon? The institute? Really curious as to how one chooses a surgeon for something like this----I would think there is alot of research involved...I would imagine it overwhelming.....To reiterate, my prayer are for you and a successful surgery- next Tuesday, right? Dana
Millie, a great choice; a friend of mine had her rupture in Yuma; air-evac'd to Barrow...
overall, excellent care...
Pat
Hi Pat,
How long ago did your friend have her rupture? I am guessing dr. Spetzler did the surgery? Or was she coiled? I also have a friend who went there and she was very pleased with the results.
Thanks,
Millie
I did a lot of research and narrowed it down to 4 surgeons. I consulted with each one and decided on the one who has done more than anyone else in the country. I also know someone who had a difficult case and went there with good results.
Yes, next Tuesday. Thanks, Millie
Kelly,
I just concentrated on the outcome. If you have a good neurosurgeon, you will be home in no time (about 3 days). My operation was 91/2 hours long, but of course I don't remember that. Be good to yourself during recovery. Eat well and rest, rest and rest some more! Good luck to you!
Millie,
I am happy to say I do not really have any lingering side effects from the surgery. Bad weather gives me a headache, but that is about it. Good luck to you!
Hi Kelly,
Welcome to BAF. I certainly understand your concerns. They were mine also. Here are my experiences:
When I had my surgery, my entire head was shaved - that's the way it was done then. I cried. But, before I went home, my mom bought me an Afro wig (it was 1969!) that I had seen on my way to and from work. She had it styled to look like something a real person would wear and I wore it home from the hospital. I had it customed styled for me. All things considered, losing all or a part of your heart should not be a big concern. Hair grows back.
My incision healed well but the bone flap did not cede back perfectly but it wasn't conspicuous. Every now and then someone would notice that I had a "bump" on your head but not very often. You can expect that a hairdo like yours in the photo will cover it up.
Take care. Best wishes for a successful surgery.
Carole
hi Kelly my name is Debbie Love my aneurysm was behind my right eye.It was 1@1/2 years ago for my clamping. It was a wide neck.I loved this sight they are all great people. And we r here at any time.I believe that if u put ur mind in the right state before surgery. You will be fine scared perhaps but u would not believe we our self’s are willing to fight for our lives.I do get migraine headache and cannot handle sun light.I am one that does have some vision problems but I went in thinking about all the babies that have no choice with cancer and pain.So I went under the knife with those babies on my mind and felt peace.I walked out on the 3 rd morning.Keep ur faith stay in touch with us all it helps so much and know we will Pray for u threw out this .
Millie.
She had surgery/clip the end of 2007; I met her summer 2008 thru a longtime friend. Knowing I had had an aneurysm rupture, I was called for info i.e. websites, for her family. They were so pleasd w/her treatment; on arrival past midnight, the specialist did the initial assesment. There is at least one other I know who had treatment there; name-blanking; tho remember she was pleased w/her treament.
Best wishes and prayers for your decisions and treatment.
Pat
Thanks Debbie, I agree with you! You have a very level-headed and positive attitude! I had my angiogram yesterday and the radiologist said that I am a good candidate for any method. But I still have to wait to see what they say after they all meet to discuss my case. We shall see. Thanks for your reassuring words, regardless of which method we choose.
Sincerely, Kelly
Kelly---how are you? Dana
Hey Dana,
So nice of you to ask. I'm "stable" --mentally anyway. I had my cerebral angiogram on Friday and the Dr. said that it looked like I qualified for any kind of procedure which made me happy. But I'm afraid to be too happy until they all meet this Thursday to discuss my case. (as well as other cases of course!). He said that he was a bit biased, but that it seemed to him that I was a great candidate for coiling. So, now I wait until next Monday to get there consensus. I'm trying hard just to trust that they will come up with the best solution for my issue even if it means clipping! (God, that still scares me to death!!)
How are you doing??
thanks Kelly
Kelly,
Well, I take that to be positive-----I can only imagine what an agonizing decision.....
Perhaps, "made you happy" was not the most correct way to put it! Well, Doc, what would "make me happy" is if the aneurysm just--poof disappeared or better yet, if it was never there to begin with!!! hahaha ...and I would agree with you---discussing your case is most important to you---nothing wrong with that! I hope the Dr gives you a definite - this is what we should do for you, that way you won't have to second-guess yourself....
I am good-
Take care of yourself and please keep me updated when you have a chance--Dana
Yes, you are correct... "happy" wasn't quite the right word here! Yes, I think they will say "this is what we recommend". I'm just praying whatever they say that my eye issue (white light in left eye) will go away! How have you handled your eye issues? Or are they pretty much a non issue now?
Kelly--my eye issues were directly related to the SAH---the blood "seeped" into both eyeballs and dried up- thus the blindness. I was extremely fortunate to be able to have surgery, vitrectomy, on both eyes, one eye at a time, about 6 months apart... ("removing" the blood and replacing the vitreous fluid in the eye, it's a fairly detailed surgery, actually quite amazing...)- with some additional surgeries, lasers, and corrective lenses, my vision is as good as it's going to get and I'll take it over not being able to see, any day..
Wishing you the best possible outcome- Dana
