My 8 Year Old was just diagnosed with an aneurysm

Hi everyone. We just received the news yesterday that my 8 year old has an aneurysm in the left side of her brain near the optic nerve. Her neurologist said this is very uncommon in children and is consulting with a pediatric specialist. Now after the shock is slowly receding I have so many questions hitting me, and of course it is a weekend. Should I reduce her activities, (swimming, playing, etc)? I am so unsure of what to do other than wait for her doctor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Julie

Hi I have been wondering how your 8 year old is doing. I have been praying for you and family . I would like to know your child's name so I can keep praying . please keep me updated . thank you and God Bless you and family Lisa

Hi Lisa. I can't thank you enough for the continued prayers. Elisabeth is doing okay for the moment, she has lost her peripheral vision completely though. The neurologist said her aneurysm is between 4-5mm, he said they would have to operate at 7mm, but with the location and her age would prefer to wait and watch carefully. She will be having MRI's every three months. We are learning to deal with this and I am trying my best to keep everything at home as normal as possible. She is no longer allowed to ride her bike, jump on the trampoline, etc, which has been a hard adjustment not only for her but my other children as well. I have had to learn to take things one minute at a time and cherish each minute individually. Elisabeth has always been older than her age so in some ways that is a blessing. Please do keep praying for her, she can never have enough prayers.

Hi julie,my 10 year old son had surgery for brain aneurysm 8th may 2013 and has recovered remarkably,he also has one in his neck and we are waiting for date for that,it is extreemly rare in children,i know what you are going through, you are not alone,i pray for you both.

Hi Julie, I am a survivor of a pediatric aneurysm. However, I was 18 when mine finally ruptured. Thankfully because of your daughters youth she has much better odds. My prayers are with you and your family. Please remember to live everyday fully. Trust in God.

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing well today. I just wanted to give a quick update on Elisabeth. She has now been transferred to homeschool due some health problems coming up. She starting having migraines daily, and her balance and motor skills were causing problems. We found out yesterday that she now has a seizure disorder also. The neuro thinks that the seizures and migraines are "more than likely" unrelated to the aneurysm, so any opinions on this would be nice. This is the second neuro so far, and I like him, I just worry about crossing every I and dotting every t when it comes to everything.
