Migraine?

Hi
I was wondering if anyone who has had a clipping has been left with migraines. I never suffered headaches until the aneurysms were there. I am 4 weeks post clipping and have bad headache all at right hand side of head (craniotomy was this side) preceded by flashing lights. This headache put me to bed it was so severe.

Hi Chris. Sorry you are having these. I had my leftside cerebral ani clipping on 10-10-11. My doctor finally found relief for me with VERAPAMIL. I will be on the verapamil for the rest of my life, but I rather be than to have the post-op migraines I had 24/7 for 3 months. Like you, I never had a major headache pre-op, but afterwards the headaches turned to migraines. Doctor also tried Fioricet but that did nothing for me. I tried going off the verapamil but within 9 days the headaches came back so I went right back on before they turned into migraines again. Let us know how you make out.

Best wishes, Jeanne

Hi Chris

I had the complete opposite. Since I was 10 years old I have had bad headaches at least 3 times a week.

Since I had my grade 4 SAH 4 years ago I hardly ever get a headache. Go figure.

Hi Chris, So sorry to hear you are experiencing migraines. One of my symptoms before my clipping was headaches. I thought they were sinus headaches. After surgery, I am now getting stabbing pains on the right side of my head and behind my eye. And yes, this is the side of my surgery. Don’t think the pains are a migraine. Am hoping they are from healing, as my procedure was 4 months ago. Hopefully you have discussed your headaches with your neurosurgeon. Take Care, Mary

Hello my pal, you should tell this to Doc. I had headaches too after clipping, but only for 2 weeks and they weren't severe. It could be that the annies were behind the eye Chris and that could contribute to the head aches,

go to Docs.

Love and God Bless

Hi Chris,

Sorry to hear about the migraines. I had liquid embolization and developed migraines. They are finally diminishing after a one year battle. It has been 6 weeks since my last migraine. I am on my 3rd preventive medication (elavil at night), so far, so good. I never had headaches before the annie either, however, all the drs. say that the annie does or did not cause them.

Hopefully, your migraines will diminish. You are very early in your recovery stage too. It does take time.

Karen

Chris,

My wife's started exactly six months clipping post-op and that was eighteen years ago. Give yourself a little more time to heal (but not to long) and see whether they go away. In the meantime alert your Neurosurgeon and don't let he/she pass you off to other Doctor's as a way to dismiss you. I would also encourage you to discuss medication options such as Karen mentions. Please keep us posted on how these headaches are progressing. Take care.

Thanks all for your comments/suggestions I appreciate it all.

Just been back to doctor and she has shuffled and changed meds to see if there is an improvement. She also sent a fax to neuro to try get me seen a bit quicker as she isn't specialist in this area.
