Macular degeneration eye injections and Plavix

I am 2 weeks post endovascular coil and stents procedure. I also have wet type macular degeneration and have lost vision so I receive EYLEA eye injections every two months to save my vision. I am a few months overdue for injections because of the surgery halted most other things in my life. I am getting two opinions about receiving eye injections again. My neurosurgeon didn’t think it was a good idea right now because of the potential for bleeding with the Plavix and aspirin. I also asked my retinal specialist and they felt I should continue with the shots as soon as possible. They said there is not any danger of clotting near the aneurysm repair from the injections. I am just wondering if there is anyone on this site that is dealing with macular degeneration eye injections while recovering from brain aneurysm coil and stents.

I am so thankful for this support group. Reading about other people’s similar experiences, fears and successes has been so helpful and encouraging!

I’m really glad you’re getting help from us, that’s great! I don’ t have macular degeneration but I’ve had two specialists contradict each other, my neurosurgeon and a cardiologist. For what it’s worth, I’ve learned to go with my Neurosurgeon. To me, your Neurosurgeon isn’t saying they’re worried about the aneurysm, they sound like they are more concerned with the blood thinners you’re on. I do hope any members with macular degeneration can help you!
