Almost 3 years ago my husband had 5 brain aneurysm. One ruptured which caused a stroke. He lived thank god. He is able to take care of himself. He only remembers way in the past. If u tell him something he forgets in maybe 5 minutes. My question is he says alot of unappropriate things. This has just started within the last 2 months . Should i be worried? Its not mean things its just off the wall things. My husband was 45 years old when this happened.
Welcome to the community! Is your husband still meeting with his neurosurgeon to follow-up on the rupture once a year or so?
Yes he is still following up with nuro dr. His last scan was last summer. It was fine. Said next scans weren’t till 2026. Said they can do every 2 years now.
Incidentally, I was 45 when I experienced my first rupture as well. Is he seeing a neurologist as well?
Depending on where the rupture is located, it seems to affect everyone differently. For example, I had some issues with my left hand not wanting to release items I was holding for the first month or so after my rupture. After a lot of PT, this issue was largely rendered a moot point.
My wife said I didn’t have any personality changes that were readily discernible, but she did note that I appear to be more patient now than I used to be.
Maybe some other folks on this forum will chime in with solid recommendations for you.
My wife ruptured 3 years ago too. Her short term memory is a couple of minuets. She has not recovered enough to care for her self. She also says inappropriate things. It does not bother me I think her filter is broke, she just says what she thinks. I find the making up her own reality thing disturbing. My conversations about this with her neurosurgeon, neurologist, physical medicine have all ended the same. A nothing burger.
Have you been able to discuss this with any other neurosurgeons or neurologists?
