Headaches one month post coil and stenting procedure

i had an unruptured aneurysm repaired about a month ago. It is located directly behind my left eye on my carotid artery very close to my optic nerve. Following my procedure i had mild headache for approx 2 1/2 weeks that wasnt too bothersome. That headache went away for about a week or so and now I had developed a different type of headache (similar symptoms to a migraine: all on my left side, stabbing/throbbing pain rather than dull ache) that I have now had for 3 days. Anyone else with unruptured aneurysm repair dealing with migraine like headaches that last for days at a time and that come and go?

My doctors gave me instructions: any headache not cured by Tylenol, start a Medrol Dosepak. If Tylenol doesn’t cure the headache, and they didn’t give you one call your doctor and tell them of your headache.

Had terrible headaches daily for three months

That happened to me post op also. I had a stent and coils put into unruptured annie. I went To Er and they did a bunch of tests. Ct scan etc. Said I had inflammation and my magnesium was low. They also put me on Prednisone for the inflammation. I did feel better in a couple of days. Good luck. My headache started 48 hours after the angio.

My dr said headaches are common especially all the work he had to do on my brain I would not worry

Everyone is different... I suggest that you let your doctor know...

I agree. Everyone is different and you should let your doctor know

Hello Michelle, I also had a large internal carotid artery aneurysm that was coiled and stented. I had a procedural ‘small’ stroke but after some months I am on the way to a good recovery. I also experienced a different kind of headpain (unlike a headache) after a couple of months, mine is like an ice pick being driven into my head. It also comes and go. I have mentioned to the specialists and all say it does not come from the aneurysm and the best solution has been pain killers. Though to me this is not a great solution, surely there must be a reason. If I ever find out more I will let you know, sorry you have the head pain too. Best wishes Philomena (Sydney Australia)

Hi. I am 12 weeks postop coiling with stent. I did have headaches after surgery for the first month, but i just starting getting headaches lasting days that feels like someone took a hammer to the top portion of my head. Because i have high anxiety, i went to the ER and the CT came back negative. We had 2 rainy days here when i had the headache. Im wondering if having coils and stent headachr pain is weather related, kind of like arthritis patients?

Jennifer, I had a coiling and a PED, in separate aneurysms in December '14 and February '15. I have had no real headaches but I do get weird sensations and I swear it's when there's a weather change. I've told my family I think I can be a meteorolgist!
