It’s been a year a half since my ruptured Annie and I’ve been able to feel a sort of bump on my forehead where I had my surgery. When I told my neurologist about it, he told me that it was nothing to worry about. That’s the way he was about everything though. If I mentioned I was still getting headaches or ask him about the dent in my forehead he’d say “oh that’s normal”. Basically telling me there was nothing I could do about it and it was something I’d have to live with. Not one for sugar coating, this one. Since then, he’s left the practice and I recently saw a different neurologist. I considered following my original neurologist since he assisted with my surgery, but decided to take a chance on a different doctor to see what they’d say. When I told my new doctor about this “bump” on my forehead, she immediately felt it and told me that sometimes the screws that connect the plates can come loose and cause infection. I thought “welll that’s just great”.
She told me we would do a MRI with and without contrast and also do a X-ray skull series. Depending on the condition of the screw, if that’s what it is, they might want to remove it. She wouldn’t answer any other questions though because she wasn’t sure if that was what we were dealing with.
So now I’m just waiting till next Thursday for them to go over the results with me and let me know the next step.
I’m trying not to worry about what’s going to happen since the slightest amount of stress brings on a headache for me, but it’s tough.
I think I need a new hobby.
Oh Bless your Heart...I am so glad the other neurologist left and you are seeing a new and definitely improved one...It is so sad, but we must be our own "medical advocate" through this journey...I have learned this the hard way...and from other's on this site...
Keep us posted on what they find out...and know I am sending out positive thoughts your way ~ Colleen
Your new doc sounds like a great advancement for you...
Wishing you the best, informative, helpful, results...please keep us informed...
